Almost time to channel Jim Mora: Playoffs? Playoffs?!? We're just trying to win a game. One of my favorite post game quotes. ššš Plus, the manic way he delivered that lineā¦

True, but it happened early enough in the game where the offense had plenty of time to pick him up and still win it was only 1 run lead after that.

This team (I will not refer to them as the Yankees until they deserve to be called such) will now lose the division to Tampa. At one point we had home field, then we had at least a bye, but now ... it's over, folks. We'll be SWEPT in the first round. Boone needs to go. I doubt Cashman will but he needs to go as well. One for the history books. What an epic collapse. FWIW... Everything still favors the Yankees www.baseball-reference.com/leagues/majors/2022-playoff-odds.shtmlSo I think your post is a tad over dramatic. They still have the most wins in the majors against above 500 teams with 41 (will be 45 if the White Sox get back above 500). That is more then half their wins against above 500 teams. This is why the baseball reference predictions still show the Yankees as favorites to win the AL.

Three hits and two errors is a recipe for losing baseball games. Cole with one bad pitch to Ohtani Boy and the game is done.

We keep playing right into these nightmare scenarios. You watch it unfolding and get a sense of doom rather than a sense that itās going to be all right. Itās quite horrendous.

As soon as that Cole pitch didn't hit Ohtani, I got a bad, doom & gloom feeling. I wanted him take first base, even if it loaded the bases. Instead, two pitches later, the Angels had 3 runs and that was that.

Man, I wish Cashman was that passionate about the game. He'd win a lot of fans if he acted like that in the owner's box.š±

It's easier on the system to sleep through these West Coast atrocities and just read about them in the morning rather than experiencing them as they happen.
This Yankee season is some kind of historical anomaly. They are the only team to ever play over .700 ball in their first 60 games and then play below .500 in their next 60 games.
In their last 54 games -- exactly one-third of the season -- the Yankees are 23-31. That's last-place level baseball. Tampa Bay, reeling from injuries every bit as much as the Yankees, has picked up ten games in a month. The Yanks absolutely can not afford to be swept by the Rays, heading in with German, Schmidt and Montas while a seemingly healthy Severino and Cortes rest to keep their workload down.
Almost all of the positive stats that can be cited came from that once-in-a-lifetime start. There is still time to get back on track, but another month like August and this team is looking at squeezing in as a Wild Card.

The unthinkable is still possible. We have a mix of good and bad players on this roster. Somehow that didnāt matter earlier this season. Now we sink to the level of the lowest common denominator. We are becoming Aaron Hicksā team. Joey is gone. He was supposed to be the problem, the black hole sucking the life out of the lineupā¦ Gary Sanchez was another. Heās gone. Who can pump life INTO the team?

Who can pump life INTO the team? They have a 10 game lead on the wildcard with 31 games left I don't think they would get to a point where they would wind up with a worse record than those teams. 11-20 gets them 90 wins it would take 22-11 minimum for any of those other teams to get to 90. I think they are safe for a playoff spot. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
