Hicks playing himself on to the post-season roster. With Benintendi injured, the Yanks will need another OF on the playoff roster. It's Hicks by default.

Oh yeah, Mick was the better player by a wide margin. Roger was a very good player who had two or three great seasons. Mantle still ranks among the greatest handful ever to play. It ticked me off then as now how Maris' pursuit of the record was treated almost as a negative event. Not in the early going, but as he got close the writers covering him became more hostile and asked repetitive inane questions. The coverage of Judge was almost universally joyful. As it should have been. That Maris asked for a day off during his signature season, just to gain a modicum of peace and civility speaks to the hostility he felt. When your best season is also the least enjoyable. Yep. With only four games left in the season, and sitting on 60, he finally persuaded Ralph Houk to give him a day off. Maris later said it was the happiest day of the whole pursuit.

Higgy flashing the leather. How wonderful not have Sandwich jogging back to pick up those pitches.

Effross could only pitch to one batter? Did his horse get away? What happened to the three hitter minimum? Did Effross have an “injury”?…

Schmidt just experienced better defense in one inning than Monty did in his entire career in Pinstripes.

Marwin playing like a gold glover at first. The guy really is a great athlete. I think he could still be a .250 hitter with 20 HR if he had the playing time…

Effross could only pitch to one batter? Did his horse get away? What happened to the three hitter minimum? Did Effross have an “injury”?… This is one of the few MLB rule changes that I like. I wasn't a big fan of all the lefty/righty matchup pitching changes managers would make during an inning.
