...Trevor Bauer was officially released by the Dodgers, but few if any MLB teams are willing to sign him. This includes the Yankees and Mets, who are out on Bauer.
The Los Angeles Dodgers officially released Trevor Bauer this week after meeting with the former All-Star pitcher. Bauer, who faced a sexual assault allegation and received a 190-plus game suspension from MLB, did not show remorse for his actions, per Bob Nightengale of USA Today.
There was very little likelihood that LA would bring him back, but the meeting between the two sides in Arizona essentially sealed his fate.
Now, Bauer needs a new home, though it doesn't look like he'll be signing anywhere anytime soon. The Mets and Yankees are not interested in his services for now.
I’d rather we stay away from Bauer, but I have to wonder if the Montas shoulder inflammation may make the Yanks take a second look… I suppose it’s either the odd behavior and accusations vs. Bauer or the wife-beating antics of Domingo German to fill in…

Angels News: Insider Reveals Potential Landing Spot for Shohei Ohtani Next Offseason MLB insider Jon Heyman says the Mets are likely to be in the bidding for Angels star Shohei Ohtani when he hits free agency next offseason.
Angels superstar Shohei Ohtani is heading into his final season under contract with the Halos and will hit free agency after the 2023 season. Like everything else Ohtani does, the demand for his services is likely to be unprecedented.
Something else in MLB is unprecedented right now, too, and that's Mets owner Steve Cohen's willingness to spend crazy amounts of money on star players. As Jon Heyman writes in the New York Post, Ohtani and Cohen might be a match made in unprecedented baseball heaven.
Heyman writes about players the Mets might target next offseason, and after first talking about Padres third baseman Manny Machado, he gets to Ohtani.
He probably shouldn’t be No. 2 on any list, but there’s some concern about whether he’d go to New York. One baseball executive said he was flat-out told Ohtani didn’t want to come here when he was first free five years ago. (His handlers say that was a long time ago and tastes change, but of course they have to hope he’d consider Cohen’s team for the sake of negotiations, which will get crazy anyway for the world’s best player.)
The Dodgers seem primed for a run at Ohtani, and the bidding should get to the $500M range, at least.
Ohtani's rebuffing of the New York teams was a source of hard feelings when he first came over from Japan, if you can imagine New York baseball fans thinking the world centers around them. Still, Ohtani will have to at least entertain Cohen's overtures to maximize his market, and once you're listening, it can be hard to say no to ridiculous amounts of money.
Ohtani's market is going to be historic, and there's no way Cohen and the Mets won't be involved. Does Cohen get everything he wants? We'll find out next winter.

The worst-kept secret in baseball is that the Los Angeles Dodgers are trying to stay below the luxury tax to jump in with all of their might to sign Shohei Ohtani as a free agent after the season.
Their stiffest competition?
The San Diego Padres, who also plan to be all in.

Cohen and the Mets will be an interesting watch for the next 1/2 dozen years if he keeps loading up. What’s he going to do when all those contracts start to get into their ugly back ends in 4/6 years? Will he keep spending? Ohtani’s chances of becoming a Yankee? Next to nil…

Trade CASH to Houston!!!
Latest On Astros’ General Manager Search
The Astros have been operating without a general manager for several months but owner Jim Crane is actively interviewing candidates for the position, reports Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic. It’s unclear if a resolution is close at hand or how many people are being considered, but Rosenthal lists three people who have been interviewed: Michael Hill, Dana Brown and Bobby Evans.

The hot stove isn’t generating much heat right now, is it? It’s about time for Cashman to pull one of those “didn’t see that coming” deals. Somebody we haven’t thought of. It might take a few days to sink in, but we’ll like it when we figure it all out…

But, we have Aaron Hicks.

I really like Jack Curry, but I must disagree with him that Aaron Hicks "plays an above average" defensive outfield. Too many bone-headed plays out there, doesn't get a good jump. How can you watch Brett Gardner and Joey Gallo play left field and believe Hicks is above average?

How can you watch Brett Gardner and Joey Gallo play left field and believe Hicks is above average? Hicks doesn't even have a good throwing arm anymore, he's a liability all over the place.
