An actual closer. IKF needs to go. Less mistakes on defense (though better than last year still not enough).
Yankees are not a bad team they are better than 13 of the 15 teams in the AL. They showed this against the guardians that outside of those 2 lucky wins that the Yankees handed to them the other 3 games weren't exactly close.
Problem is when they faced the Astros they looked like a team that hasn't been playing for a championship in 3 years. So many mental errors.
I also don't think that rainout before game 5 helped things they just didn't seem prepared for this series at all. Not that they would have won more than 1 game even if they had the rest day with the way they played.
I also don't think DJ being healthy would have made a huge difference he hasn't been 2019 DJ in a long time. Benintendi was starting to heat up before the injury but again does he do any better than Bader? Prob not.

That being said it was still an improvement from
Last year while last year I felt they were like mid pack in the AL. They are def back to being a top team but need work for the very top.

So according to this www.spotrac.com/mlb/new-york-yankees/payroll/2023/Cole, Stanton, Donaldson, DJ, Hicks, Bader are guaranteed contracts. Rizzo has a player option of 16 million and Severino has a club option of 15 million. Then a bunch of others are arb eligible Judge, Chapman, Britton, Benintendi, Taillon, Green, Castro, Carpenter, Marwin are all possible free agents. |

Look WE have to do something big and that = A rebuild of some degree (built a new dynasty around OUR Prospects???!!!)
Looking at above Post = Do not resign Chapman, Britton, Marwin,Carpenter, Green, Benintendi, etc. Trade STANTON (give more $$$ to waive his no-trade) Hicks, Donaldson, etc.
As for Judge I think he is not an issue and most likely will leave the Yankees for a shot at WS (plural).
Need to begin the changes with Cash/Boone = How many years since no WS appearance??? Is it 13-Years???
To be honest WE barely got past Cleveland...
I am basically at a loss for words...
I like Rizzo but he is aging/bad back etc. However, he is a good clubhouse presence and next year no-shift = will help his numbers.
Donaldson is a toss-up...
Just shaking my head!!!
