Pipeline of SS's whom might be busts and don't get regular playing time to adjust to the speed of the show. We've been down this road before with our prospects. If the Yankees are going this route they should just rebuild. WEKK SAID!!! Begin the rebuilding now...We got the YOUNG Talent.
Remember Cleveland who we BARELY beat, had the youngest Roster in all MLB.
Knock the Yankees all you want but that series was not as close as it looked. The two wins by Cleveland the Yankees practically handed them with dumb mistakes and dumb managerial decisions the other three games weren't even close. They made it look closer than it really was because of those mistakes but the Yankees never trailed that series going into the 9th inning while Cleveland did 4 of 5 games with the other being tied Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk So, this really is Minnesota’s fault. We held up our end of the bargain. Actually, with Sandwich on their team, the Twins may never make the ALCS again. Freaking Cashman could have just DFA’d Sandwich.

You’re going to have to explain to Noetsi how a series can be more decisive than the game results indicated. Good luck! 👍

Ranking the top 25 MLB free agents
A fan predicted the next 10 World Series winners in 2019. He might go 3-for-3.
Will the Texas Rangers be a surprise bidder in MLB’s off season free agency?
JUST SAY NO, NO, NO = We have Prospects

Trea Turner and Willson Contreras are the only free agents that make sense to me for the Yankees...if they package up a trade of a catcher like Higgy/Trevino and Gleyber Torres, replacing him at second with Oswald Peraza. Trevino and Torres may actually bring back a usable piece. We are stuck with Donaldson, and DJ may require off-season surgery on his toe. At AAA, one great thing about a shortstop is they can play anywhere - usually they're the best athletes on the diamond. So, Anthony Volpe could conceivably play third, as his bat is superior to Peraza and Cabrera.
1. Turner (SS) R 2. Rizzo (1B) L 3. Judge (RF) R 4. Stanton (DH)R 5. Contreras (C) R 6. Cabrera (LF) S 7. Volpe (3B) R 8. Peraza (2B) R 9. Bader (CF) R
There's a lot of speed in this line up:
1. Turner (27 SB) 2. Rizzo (6) 3. Judge (16) 4. Stanton (0) 5. Contreras (4) 6. Cabrera (16) 7. Volpe (50) 8. Peraza (35) 9. Bader (17)
DJ LeMahieu (once healthy) can go back to being an everyday substitute, as was intended all along, spending time at 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. Contreras is the fiery personality that the Yankees thought they had in Donaldson, except Contreras isn't an asshat. Contreras is also one of the most athletic catchers I have seen, with power and a flair for the dramatic. Higgy or Trevino can be the second catcher, with Rorschach in AAA waiting for an injury. I would not mind Carpenter as a lefty-power bat coming off the bench, if he can have a solid spring training. And, should Stanton get hurt, then he can slide in as a lefty DH. IKF can be a bench player who can play any infield position, including catcher. That's your 13 position players. A mix of very big salaries and very affordable newbies.

The Yankees may want to extend/offer Rizzo a new contract, which Rizzo would probably desire, especially if Judge returns to New York. If Judge walks, the Yankees should strongly court Rizzo with an additional three years, especially since they have DJ, to protect Rizzo's intermittent back problems. That clubhouse would be a mess without Judge and Rizzo - each a very strong, positive presence and veteran with humility. Having a right-handed first baseman in Yankee Stadium is just not the way to go, offensively or defensively. Rizzo had nearly as many timely and important hits this season as Judge. And, Rizzo changed the reliability of the Yankee infield defensively. He's not the caliber he once was defensively, but his footwork, hands, and accurate arm ensure he will always be well-above average.

Rizzo opting out because he knows if the Yankees don't sign Judge it's another wasted season.

Nimmo, Turner and Arenado and Rodon if they opt out...should be your starting point after Judge makes his decision...just my personal list add Contreras and Swanson even tho he K's alot.

I’m glad if he does. Low average, bad back. Bodes poorly for the future. He’s a great guy, but DJ could take over at first. If he’s back to full health he can still play the game… We also have Wells coming up through the system. He may eventually prove to be a C/1B… or a 1B/C…which in turn could allow us to have a viable 3-catcher rotation…

He may eventually prove to be a C/1B… or a 1B/C…which in turn could allow us to have a viable 3-catcher rotation… DJ has been hurt the last two years more than Rizzo. And, DJ is right-handed and not anywhere close to being the defensive player Rizzo is at first base. DJ has an OPS+ of 102 for his career. Rizzo's OPS+ is 127. Also, DJ is a rather bland personality in the clubhouse, hardly a leader. Rizzo just hit 32 home runs in his first full year in Yankee Stadium. Outside of the juiced ball 2019, DJ has never hit more than 15. Why would we downgrade both offensively and defensively at first base with a player no more reliable heath-wise than Rizzo? And, once again, be too right-handed at a position and a ball park that favors lefties? DJ is also a year older than Rizzo. I don't mind DJ as a substitute at first, but I have seen enough of him to know he is not on the same level as Rizzo defensively. There are just too many plays that a righty cannot make as easily at first base. DJ is perfect in the role that was planned for him - versatile infielder. His best position this season was third base, then second, then first. Bad idea in my opinion. Also, Rizzo was 5 for 7 with RISP in the playoffs. He just has a knack for drawing a walk, a HBP, fouling off pitch after pitch, and delivering in big spots. Rizzo also has a World Series Championship ring. He knows what it takes. Rizzo vs Cleveland 2022 Playoffs: .294/.429/.529/.958 Rizzo vs. Houston 2022 Playoffs: .250/.438/.583/1.021

You can keep him, but remember, you have to give him food and water, let him out and clean up after him if he makes a mess in the house…
