If I remember correctly, 55 was the number of my basketball jerseys (home and away) my freshman year of high school. I think my sophomore year, it was 35, then 33 my junior and senior years. I really wanted 23 in honor of Donnie Mattingly, but the lower numbers were all small and medium sizes. 55 is a good number! Always will remind me of my favorite Japanese import and adult film connoisseur Hideki Matsui. Matsui is on my all-time favorite Yankee teams (not greatest Yankee team, just favorite combination of players), along with Paul O'Neill in right, DiMaggio in center, Munson at catcher, Mattingly at first base, Tony Lazzeri at second, Jeter at shortstop, and Nettles at third. Can you imagine two more different personalities than Joe D. (stoic) and O'Neill (heart on sleeve) playing side by side?

This article says Rodon isn't really an injury risk:
Carlos Rodón isn’t the injury risk you think he is
How 2021’s mechanical overhaul changed Rodón’s health outlook after five years of IL trips.

Well now this is a nice topic for which there are no wrong answers (unless you pick A-Rod at third. And of course Tony Womack wouldn't cut it for Kaybli.) I could happily go with the team you named because I think the world of every one of them. My own would be Yogi Berra at catcher, Lou Gehrig at first, Bobby Richardson at second, Derek Jeter at short, Scott Brosius at third (really) Roger Maris in RF, Mickey Mantle in CF, Roy White in LF and The Babe at DH. Pitchers Whitey Ford, Mel Stottlemyre, Ron Guidry, Andy Pettitte and Allie Reynolds. Mo as the closer. Joe McCarthy as manager. Bill Dickey coaching at first and Frank Crosetti coaching at third. Mel Allen, Red Barber and Phil Rizzuto in the booth. Bob Sheppard on the PA. Brought to you by Ballantine Beer, Nobody Beats The Wiz and The Money Store.

And I agree that yours is a great trio. Bill White's contributions as a broadcaster seem to have been forgotten. He was always intelligent and to the point. Plus I loved his interaction with Scooter. Frank Messer to me is one of the all-time greats. A total professional and I rank him right in there with Red Barber and Vin Scully.

What about, "How're ya fixed for blades? You better look!"
