Chaparro with a grand slam. 9-0… Last year, for some reason, I had to watch a Yankees/Pirates game on the Buc's network and their announcers were really salty. I bet their really enjoying this one today.  I'm just glad we didn't lose you to the Pirates considering you're a Steelers and Penguins fan.  |

I'm just glad we didn't lose you to the Pirates considering you're a Steelers and Penguins fan. The Pirates were my favorite National League team, while I was growing up. I was a big Willie Stargell fan. I went to a lot of Pirate games during my college years and that was the Bonds/Bonilla/Van Slyke teams and they were great. Nothing like the garbage dump they've become. |

Van Slyke was the most under rated player in baseball for a few years… I always thought that about Van Slyke. He made Bonds a better left fielder. One of my best friends is Bob Patterson who pitched for the Pirates during those years. We got to travel some with the Pirates during that time(not flying with them but staying in the team hotels and sitting with the families at the games). I've got some funny stories about Van Slyke, Bonds, Bonilla, Leyland, etc. Good times. |
