Volpe with one of the Yankees' three hits. Volpe has outplayed Peraza and most of the current MLB players on the Yankee roster. If the "braintrust" sends Volpe to AAA, then choosing the best team is synonymous to the travesty that is scheduled days off. Nothing more than an organized, bureaucratic money shuffle that has lost sight of the reason to play ballgames.

In about three weeks the big kids get out of school and things get a lot more serious. The spring numbers become meaningless. That being said, this young man Carrie’s himself well afield and seems to have his act together. Unlike the previous #77, he also appears to be ready to handle the news either way. I still like him at 2B, but his lack of experience there shows a bit, making the pivot etc.. he won’t need long to learn it… Viewing the current condition of the roster, it would be sad to see any of the young players sent down. Peraza and Domk guru have the look of players that can be better than some of the current starters. Deivi Garcia may have thrust himself back into the mix today as well…

Nothing more than an organized, bureaucratic money shuffle that has lost sight of the reason to play ballgames. AGREED!!! Bravo!!!
...The main bright spot from the Yankees’ starting lineup came from the potential future on the infield, with Anthony Volpe at second, Oswald Peraza at shortstop, and Oswaldo Cabrera at third base. The average age of the trio is 22.33, and they’re all loaded with talent, so just the possibility is cool to consider!
As a testament to what they bring to the team, they were among the very few Yankees to get on base at all (though Cabrera did make a throwing error). Cabrera singled in the first, Volpe blooped a double in the third, and Peraza walked in the fifth.
...In his first season in the Bronx, Donaldson had career-lows in home runs (15) and batting average (.222). He also posted an anemic .682 OPS in 132 games.
However, the veteran third baseman believes he still has good baseball left in the tank, or else he would've called it quits on his career.
“If I felt like I didn’t have anything left to offer the game, I wouldn’t have reported to camp,” Donaldson told Jon Heyman of The New York Post. “I feel like I have [something] in the tank or I wouldn’t show up. Obviously, I feel like I do. That’s why I’m here. And I’m going to give it everything I have.”

I'm not sure if today's game against the Jays is being televised, but the Yanks have hit 3 HR's in the first inning. DJ, Donaldson and Florial have all gone yard.

First inning 6-0 Yankees lead in the first. Three Yankee homers. I missed all of them (audio only) because we were getting our water equipment installed.
I can’t wait to take a shower tonight. No stink, soft water… I’ve been avoiding showers as much as possible…
Gonna run out and grab a burger because the house is a mess (stuff pulled out from under the sink, out of closet, etc… and I’ve only eaten one protein cookie today (7 AM)…

Oswald Peraza goes yard. He needs a late push if he wants to win the SS job.

Now Chaparro goes deep. This kid is a monster at the plate, give him a first baseman's mitt and see if he can learn the position.

He came out of the game in the first and returned to the mound in the second. He finished strong in the third. The problem seems to be inconsistency with his slider. His fast ball looked really good at the end of his outing. I missed the first inning, but it must have been miserable. The announcers said that Nola also came out of the game and returned in the second with the teams combining to throw 91 pitches in the first inning only. Damn. Yet we only got one run…?

If there is one thing we have learned over the years about Sevy is that he cannot survive with only his fastball. He just does not have that kind of command or late movement. Sevy needs his breaking stuff for early strikes and his slider to finish batters. If not, hitters will foul off pitch after pitch.
