Do Me’s & Tequila’s Predictions for the 2023 Yankees: (the way the Yanks played on March 30th makes our predictions NOW look weak and crazy-like).
Predictions:If the Yanks were smart, they would use this year as a Mini-Rebuild Year by giving as much quality ML playing time as possible to our TOP Prospects. Sadly, however they are not that smart YET. Getting smarter but not quite there yet.
We predict the Yankees will Probably make the Play-0ffs, but once again will not be in the WS for 2023. Might even win our Division ??? But watch-out for the Blue Jays, etc. …
And if they do NOT give quality playing time to our Top Prospects this year, it might negatively impact us also in 2024.
I think ownership is getting tired of these Huge FA/Trade Contracts (Stanton, Donaldson, etc. = Injuries and/or Lack of Production as they age; with Judge being the exception (as least up to this point???)
Why no 2023 WS?
--Our starting pitchers = Injuries. Earlier in Spring Training I stated our concern about Sev and now he is on the 60-day IL; plus, other injuries for the SPs and more to come during the season. Wishing we still had some of those SP Prospects Cash traded away last year. I worry a lot about Rodon…and one of these days/years Cole will have serious Arm Problems.
--Our bullpen. As good as it is, we lack enough Lefties. Plus like any other team, there will be injuries.
--Tommy Kahnle and Lou Trivino suffered injuries and will be starting the season on the injured list. Also, starters Carlos Rodon, Frankie Montas and Luis Severino are also starting the season on the IL.
--Hicks, Donaldson should have been traded by this point or cut. Torres should have been traded also by this point for a SP (#4 or #5). These players will be a drag on the team and their spots could have gone to some of our Top Prospects. They need to be gone by midseason. No, I do NOT believe they (HDT) will have great seasons. Hicks 30/30 will be 30 AB’s 30 SO’s.
--Cash has lost his touch and should not be GM anymore. Put him as a consultant with no authority to make trades and/or sign FA’s. His trades last year were done in the PANIC Mode. Nothing good (normally) ever comes from Panic Decisions.
--By midseason the Yanks should be trading the following F/A’s after 2023 Montas, Sev, Bader…along with HDT if they are still hanging around. Hopefully these Opens spots for some Top Prospects and NOT for Panic trades
--Boone. Yes, one word Boone. His contract should have NOT been renewed. He has problems managing the BP and Line-Ups. Just not me saying that, but ALL of you too = Check your game posts from 2022 and you would think from your posts he was the Anti-Christ.
--Injuries to our position players = They will happen during the season = Without any doubt Stanton, Rizzo, DJ, Hicks, Donaldson and Bader will be on the IL = Shit, Bader is there already. The key will be what Cash will do if any of these injuries are serious = Will he use our Top Prospects or PANIC again? Will Cash use Chaparro (Chappy) when Rizzo goes on IL or Panic…???

--Plus, even if everything goes Right (impossible with Cash, Boone, Hicks, Donaldson, etc.) we would still need to get by the other teams that will make the 2023 play-offs. I think the biggest threats to us are: Houston, Blue Jays and Cleveland. Plus, there is Seattle and maybe even Texas…???
--It is great that Volpe, Waldo, Florial (???) made the team. But imagine, if we could have started the season also with Peraza, Dominguez etc. in place of the three (HDT).
--Volpe will win ROY and Judge will win MVP again. Waldo will have a stellar year.
--Hoping we are wrong about the Yanks not making WS 2023, but who knows = Only the Baseball Gods!!!
***Please note: Even if the Yanks called up their Other Top Prospects to replace HDT and injured Vets during the season; WE still wouldn’t go to WS in 2023… however 2024 would be a different story(???)

…Peraza still has a ton of value, and the league knows this:
I believe every team still thinks he’s talented, including the Yankees, he just didn’t have a spot at this moment. Now, of course, these trade proposals are all nothing more than hypotheticals. I don’t believe that either team will move their guys right now, but as the season rolls along, it’s something to keep an eye on.
Peraza is one of the most talented guys in the Yankees’ system and will likely be on the roster here sooner than later. It is just a matter of when. The team still has numerous guys that likely will not get regular ABs, and even if Raza was here, it doesn’t make sense for him to sit on the bench majority of the week and get a game here and there.
If the Yankees do want to bolster their starting rotation, moving Peraza would likely net the best value for their wants.
He’s still an incredibly gifted shortstop who can also play 2B & 3B — or will be able to here come the next month or two and would immediately help a team sure up their infield for the future.
