4/23/1999. When Fernando Tatis, Jr. blasted two GS in one inning he did so with Eric Davis’ bat…I wonder if he ever switched back to his own model?…

Re-injured my knee and hurt my shoulder - but I wasn't "riding" my motorcycle; I was trying to load it into a Hertz truck when we were moving from California. Essentially, a Seinfeld episode of not honoring a reservation. Sarah had reserved (three weeks in advance) a 27-foot moving truck three minutes from my home. The night before I was to pick it up (right about 9:00 PM), Hertz called to say they were out of trucks, though I had a confirmation and reservation and had already paid. If I still wanted a truck, I had to drive three and a half hours to Antioch to pick one up at 7:00 AM! Had a similar experience with U-Haul (a terrible company) when moving from Colorado to New York, thankfully without the resulting nightmare you had to deal with. Went to pick up the reserved truck the night before my sons and friends were coming over to help us load the truck and was told, so sorry, no truck available. Too bad…so sad. I scrambled to find an alternative, and contacted the local Penske dealership, which was extremely helpful and provided a beautiful, almost new truck at essentially the same cost as U-Haul. The move was actually a two-staged move, so I used them again on the 2nd stage…all went smoothly. Same result on the later move back to Colorado, and the subsequent, final, move to Arizona. The only move in my future will be to “Better Place Forest” in Flagstaff.

I’ve always managed to find a guy with a tractor trailer that would leave his trailer at my house a couple weeks so I could load it and go wherever I was moving. It helped that I ran the shipping department at greenhouses innMD, DE, CO, and KY at various times, because I knew people. I even had one of the guys add a car behind my belongings and take ot from MD to CO…Moving companies are a rip off…

When I moved from California to Colorado I had put our stuff in storage prior to the actual move. Had a moving company come to the storage unit for an estimate to move it to CO. Signed the contract and scheduled the move. They loaded the stuff from the storage unit and set a date they'd deliver to CO. The day before we were leaving CA got a call from them that a "mistake" had been made on the estimate, and it was now 3X what they had originally quoted. When I protested they said I could come down to their facility with a truck to transfer my stuff. Impossible of course...they had me by the short hairs and their hands were cold...so I was left with no choice but to OK the additional cost. To add insult to injury they showed up at my CO house 3 weeks later than originally scheduled...so my wife, myself and 2 little kids essentially camped out in an empty house for 3 weeks.

I thought Rickey Henderson was on the list, but he ended his career with 297 HRs and 1,406 SBs. Otherwise he would have headed up the list.

I'm in the process of finally having my garage finished after 30 years of living in this house. Had to clear it out and store all the junk you accumulate over time. I rented a storage POD for a month and have to say that I've been happy with the service. I think it was reasonably priced although I have no concept anymore as to what is reasonable. I guess you can load them up and have them transported as well, not sure how that service works.

Although, I've learned for long-range moves you're better off just leaving most of the furniture behind...taking only personal items. Most furniture can be easily replaced.

Never would have guessed either of them.

I was going to use them for my last move, only to find out that they are only licensed for interstate moving. Since my move was intrastate I had to hustle to find some kne to move us that had a truck. Having been out of the transportation aspect for over a dozen years it wasn’t as easy as before…

Hank Aaron made his MLB debut on April 13, 1954. Does anyone know what else is special about that day other than the debut of perhaps another player?
It was the first day that MLB players were required to take their gloves back to the dugout with them instead of leaving them on the field.
I wonder what it was like to be Tommie Aaron in those days? Your brother out-homers you 755-13. Hmmm. Then you’re the butt of a sort of joke that you and your bro combined to hit the most homers for a pair of brothers. Harumph!
Who did that old routine about being David Christ, brother of Jesus? “I don’t wanna go to the beach, ma! Jesus is gonna walk on the water. What am I supposed to do, huh?” <or something similar>…
