Reggie, Giambi and Sierra. They threw us a curve. Or maybe it was a sweeper. Ruben Sierra - a dangerous switch hitter - and the man Tony La Russa christened "a village idiot." Sierra clashed with Torre in his first stint with the Yankees, stupidly remarking, "All they care about over there is winning." By the time Ruben returned to the Yankees, he had matured quite a bit. Excellent pinch hitter and solid DH. Apt description. He reminded many of a young Clemente as a youngster, but he just didn’t seem to have the drive to be great. Finally, the Yankees uncover the softer side of Sears. Okay, forgot that one. It was past my TV prime. Some of my favorite advert tag-lines: How're ya fixed for blades? Strong enough for a man, made for a woman. I could have had a V-8! The quicker picker upper. Like a good neighbor... It's finger lickin' good. Good til the last drop.
