No Torres? No TORRES?! Who am I supposed to bitch about. Not even Hicks in this line up… Bauers is an interesting choice to lead off. He has taken his BB to decent OBP’s in MiLB, and since the Yankees have “unlocked” him… look out!… |

No Torres? No TORRES?! Who am I supposed to bitch about. Not even Hicks in this line up… Bauers is an interesting choice to lead off. He has taken his BB to decent OBP’s in MiLB, and since the Yankees have “unlocked” him… look out!… I thought batting Bauers first was intriguing, as he has had very good at bats the last couple of games. Intriguing, but not something I would have penciled in. |

I might have gone with Bader… Remembering a fire company league game I once played in. The manager, who was also our lead off hitter was late. Nobody wanted to lead off… except me, so I volunteered. I started the game off with a HR. Second time up, I hit a 3-run homer. About the time I’m stepping in for at bat #3, the manager arrives. I hear a couple guys tell him we’re up 5-2, that I had led off and hat hit two HR. He says “It’s wrong. It’s all wrong. He can’t lead off. He had power.”… Yep, the leadoff hitter was supposed to be a little shifty guy who could steal bases, foul off pitches, and get on base. The second hitter was supposed to be a contact guy who could lay down a bunt with his eyes closed. Third was a line drive guy with a high average, and clean up and the fifth hole were for power guys. |

So far Eflin is having his best season at 4-1, 2.91. He’s efficient, gets grounders, keeps the ball in the park. Strangely, Cash gives him the Boone treatment, the most pitches he’s thrown this season is 82. Of course the most innings he’s thrown since 2017 is 105…
He does give up Al ost a hit per inning, so we do have a chance to get a few guys on, though he’s not likely to walk many. Let’s knock him down a peg today…
