Beginning to wonder if Volpe may not be ready for the bigs. I thought he was a contact hitter with some pop, but he strikes out an awful lot.

It used to be the umpire would look at the foot hitting the base and listen for the pop of the ball into the mitt. This way is stupid. The ump can’t look at both at once…They want more offense, but this rule gives the runner a disadvantage… |

Beginning to wonder if Volpe may not be ready for the bigs. I thought he was a contact hitter with some pop, but he strikes out an awful lot. He generally has been a slow starter and also has needed time to adjust to a higher level. I’m hoping for bigger things soon as we will be at mid season in another month… |
