Game over. Losing a series to the Cardinals. Not great. I mean the Yankees went 3-3 this week while the Orioles went 1-4 and Jays went 2-4 so they gained on both, but obv 2 of those 3 losses were winnable games and would have liked to gain more than 1.5 games, but ill take 4 behind the Orioles with 4 coming up vs them. Win 3 of 4 and close the gap to 2 and maybe have them tied by the ASB. They play the Twins again who they just lost 2 of 3 to and the Yankees play the Cubs. |

If Cordero does his job, things could have been interesting in the ninth. Cole did his best with only one pitch to count on today and no runs for support. Volpe keeps inching his OPS toward .700. I don't understand pinch hitting McKinney when he's been ice cold. If Trevino had stayed in the game, Rizzo could have pinch hit for him in the ninth, and Higgy would have been available if they tied the game. Also, why is Volpe bunting with one out, when he's been our hottest hitter for the last fifteen games? There was a hole between first and second with the runner on first base and the second baseman shading toward second.
There are coaches at the MLB level right? Fundamentals are lacking. Cardinals are not playing well, but they appear to have a philosophy at the plate. Something the Yankees have not had in a long time.

Also in this game that blown call of dj not giving him a walk was pretty big but regardless DJ is not himself.
