I used to work with a guy from Staten Island who was a Mets fan, but who rooted for the Yankees unless they were playing the Mets. I have never seen this phenomenon anywhere else. I can understand it. I like to see all Louisiana college teams do well. Many U of L fans hate LSU and vice versa. They aren't even in the same conference, much less play each other. Nevertheless, I have always been in the minority in those situations. |

This has to be an owner's call, but a smart GM could have traded him for 3 or 4 really good players/prospects and then take the millions they wouldn't be paying Ohtani next year and hit the free agent market. They would probably get 2 more really good players to go with the ones they picked up in the trade. |

I get they are only "4 games out" but unlike the Yankees they haven't been in the playoff picture most of the year and have to pass multiple teams. I can understand your situation in LA better because your two schools are not in any sense competitors. It’s like I root for all the Philly colleges and Delaware unless they are playing Penn State, which rarely happens. |
