I can understand it. I like to see all Louisiana college teams do well. Many U of L fans hate LSU and vice versa. They aren't even in the same conference, much less play each other. Nevertheless, I have always been in the minority in those situations. I understand it intellectually, but in practice it seems Yankee fans hate the Mets and vice versa. I can understand your situation in LA better because your two schools are not in any sense competitors. It’s like I root for all the Philly colleges and Delaware unless they are playing Penn State, which rarely happens. Joe P never scheduled Duquesne, huh?  |

This has to be an owner's call, but a smart GM could have traded him for 3 or 4 really good players/prospects and then take the millions they wouldn't be paying Ohtani next year and hit the free agent market. They would probably get 2 more really good players to go with the ones they picked up in the trade. I get they are only "4 games out" but unlike the Yankees they haven't been in the playoff picture most of the year and have to pass multiple teams. So I'm not really sure how much of a chance they really have. I don't -- they're the Angels and they always do the wrong thing -- but maybe that's their thinking. |

The first year they won the title they played Nebraska, Notre Dame and Alabama plus the usual east coast rivals, then Georgia in the Sugar Bowl. |

Well Duquesne is Pittsburgh and that's a different animal. We always hated Pitt. Even when Marino was there? Especially when Marino -- or Dorsett -- were there. They were actually good then. |
