What's going on with him. In the last two days, he's pitched a one hitter, hit 3 HR's and left two games with an injury. Sounds like he needs a day off. This guy doesn't believe in load management. |

Why are we first pitch swinging so much against a guy that can have wildness/command issues? … He's only thrown 4 balls. He hasn’t had many opportunities to throw a ball. I think 4-5 guys went after the first pitch, at least… make him work, make him think, build up the tension… |

I have to think Garrett Cole is a tough assignment for an inexperienced catcher, or even just a new catcher with his team. He’s so… internalized…

4 innings, Cole 64 pitches (which is not bad for him) , Rodriquez 42. It’s only a minor part of the scorecard, but it’s there for all to see… Still only 3.5 pitches per out for Rodriguez…

He’s so… internalized… I could see where Cole could be intimidating in that respect, but he's also a communicator on those days when he's not starting and a good teammate. I'm sure he and Rortvedt have discussed the approach, and Cole has tried to give him confidence. |
