Hah! Bad throw from Volpe leads to a great pick and tag from Higgy! Just saw the replay. Volpe with a wry smile that said, I made that a better defensive play than it should have been.

When Holmes is on, he's a tough closer to score on. When he's off, he's also go no luck, as a single finds a hole. He's been off his last several appearances. Get another reliever up just in case this goes south fast.

I am just scared of this late season surge by Sevy. I can see Cashman giving an extension and just more IL and inconsistency. We need to change the culture of this team. I like Sevy but just can't take anymore.
Problem with the NNY this season is they play a game like this than follow it up with a handful of pathetic stinkers.

Headlocks and noogies when men were men?… Today, Ryan would lead the league in strikeouts per nine, but he would never get close to 383 strikeouts with inning limits and pitch counts. |
