Gleyber throws away a double play ball that would have ended the inning and Detroit wins. He committed three errors in this game but is only charged with one, in typical Gleyber style.
Plus the Yankees burn through their bullpen heading into Houston.

Another extra inning road loss. Can't remember the last one we won. McBroom remains in hibernation.

Honestly forgot they were even playing this afternoon. Sounds like except for a Volpe HR another 2023 Yankee stinker.

Another extra inning road loss. Can't remember the last one we won. McBroom remains in hibernation. The broadcasters noted that the Yankees have not swept a four-game series in Detroit since 1926. Of course they don't have all that many four-game series, especially in recent years, but given the usual disparity between the teams that's still remarkable. |

I really like Gleyber and the guy just plays everyday but the more I defend him the more bonehead plays he makes.

I really like Gleyber and the guy just plays everyday but the more I defend him the more bonehead plays he makes. I don't dislike Gleyber at all -- he seems like a good enough guy who gets along with his teammates, and he clearly has considerable talent. He just frustrates me with his airhead approach to the game and his penchant for making errors that don't get called errors. He seems to have a particular issue with screwing up double play balls. That won't get you an error if you still manage to get one out, of course, which is what happened in the fifth inning today and happens a lot with him. It changed the whole game. The one he blew with his airmail throw in the tenth did get him charged because it allowed the runner to advance an extra base with the winning run. |

Shocked that we tied it up. I mean, shocked. Then I was just hanging up when we blew it. I never saw the play. Was there anything to make the challenge a worthy one, or was it just a desperation challenge by Boone?… |
