I really like Gleyber and the guy just plays everyday but the more I defend him the more bonehead plays he makes. I don't dislike Gleyber at all -- he seems like a good enough guy who gets along with his teammates, and he clearly has considerable talent. He just frustrates me with his airhead approach to the game and his penchant for making errors that don't get called errors. He seems to have a particular issue with screwing up double play balls. That won't get you an error if you still manage to get one out, of course, which is what happened in the fifth inning today and happens a lot with him. It changed the whole game. The one he blew with his airmail throw in the tenth did get him charged because it allowed the runner to advance an extra base with the winning run. This off season we need to trade Torees WHILE we can get something in value for him. BRAVO to Volpe the 20/20 Rookiue Fox. Call up more Prospects.

Wait until inger finds out Gleyber cost us the game with what should have been 3 errors. Weirdly enough, a friend called me and I missed the excitement of the bottom of the ninth. Shocked that we tied it up. I mean, shocked. Then I was just hanging up when we blew it. I never saw the play. Was there anything to make the challenge a worthy one, or was it just a desperation challenge by Boone?… Desperation or Boone didn't have a good angle on the slide into second. I have no idea what caused that horrible throw from Gleyber.

I'm not trading one of the best offensive 2nd basemen in baseball to play another .150 hitting prospect. You need a roster with balance to win in this league, experienced veterans that produce mixed some young players with a bright future that you bring you some much needed energy. Cashman needs to bring in an impact bat to mix in with current roster. We already have enough young guys for next season with Volpe, Dominquez and maybe Wells or Pereira.

It appeared to be a forlorn hope to have the runner called for interference, but it wasn't even close. Just an airmailed throw.

Gleyber giveth and Gleyber taketh away. No chance I would trade him unless it was for a player(s) who could replace his production and who would want to do that. His production is second only to Judge. The next month of the season with our prospects hopefully playing full time will give us the insight we have been wishing for into our future. Fingers crossed.

He certainly is a polarizing figure…

We already have too many holes in the lineup and trading one of their top 3 hitters will make it worse. I just wish he wasn't such an idiot on the field.

We already have too many holes in the lineup and trading one of their top 3 hitters will make it worse. I just wish he wasn't such an idiot on the field. That’s the problem for me. If he could be moved to a corner or if we could use him as a DH I’d not mind so much. But a poor defender up the middle is a burden. Who cares if he’s a top 3 offensive producer if he’s also giving runs back? Screwing up the double play vs. Detroit is a great example. We lost the game that day in a situation that showed his glaring weakness in an obvious way. The team lost what little momentum they had built. McBroom had to be kept in the garage. So, try him at first or third. Maybe even LF if you want his bat in the lineup. He’d still possibly hurt us afield, but less often. If not, then move on from him. Get another 2B with top notch defense and a decent bat. Look for offense elsewhere…
