Cano suspended, and the Mariners are now in first place over the Astros without him. Mariners have a +17 run differential while the Astros have a +122. [img alt=" " src="//storage.proboards.com/6828121/images/udcwFqPimnXDtjoTmoVL.gif" class="smile"] Astro bullpen is hurting them.

Astro bullpen is hurting them. That and the Mariners are something like 17-9 in one run games. Lucky lucky. Per baseball-ref's "Luck" measure...Seattle has won 6 more games than they should and Houston has lost 7 more games than they should (this is largely based on run differential so hardly a perfect science).

I'll be shocked if the AL West race is even close by the end of it. Id be happy if someone other than Houston made it (even though we own them now) bc they are obviously the most dangerous (especially if they address that bullpen at the deadline) but its hard to see it going any other way than them running away with it.

Agreed, but as the saying goes, it's better to be lucky than good... so you never know how it's gonna shake out. Although with a baseball season, usually the luck runs out and the good turns into luck... or something

Seattle with Cano: 22-17 Seattle w/o Cano: 15-5 As the leader of the team, he decided to step aside and get out of the way...

I don't follow the M's so Idk how it looks now. As a Yankee nothing about him screamed leader. I guess that turned out to be a good thing.. if he was a leader some young Mariners might've followed him onto the PED "bangwagon."

insert code here insert code here Yes, this thread is a year old, but I thought it worth a bump for the following article: sports.yahoo.com/robinson-cano-doesnt-run-out-play-again-231055249.html
Can we agree now that the Yankees made the right decision? Only four more years on his contract, after this season that is. Against lefties this season: .133/.204/.133/.337 (Good thing most pitchers are right-handed).

When I first saw this thread reopened, my first thought was, again?. Yes. I was a fool that wanted the team to retain Cano. This in spite of the fact that I’ve almost categorically opposed long term contracts that take players into the years closely approaching age 40.
Cano is just as much of a punk as Machado, maybe worse so. I think Calloway, who’s own job is on the line, was foolish to defend a player who has a long history of lackadaisical play was foolish to defend him.
Looks like the once “great” Robinson (Don’t call me Robby) Cano may not wind up squeezing out those 3,000 hits despite his use of tainted gummy bears, huh? See ya’ Robby. Wouldn’t wanna be ya’...

I feel the same way now that I did then - offering him the contact they did made sense, holding the line and not matching Seattle’s offer made sense, turning around and spending all of the money they didn’t spend on Cano to sign Ellsbury and McCann who also aren’t running out ground balls for the Yankees right now.

With the Nationals left-handed starter Patrick Corbin on the mound against the Mets, Robinson Cano did not start, but he pinch hit later in the game. More and more each year, Cano sits against good lefty starters.

Soon, he’ll be sitting against ‘em all with his big belly swelled over his britches in his recliner, watching all the friends he has left in their porn movies...
