So, how are we doing! I know more moves might be made, where do we stand as Yankee fans! Have we made progress? Will we make the playoffs? Could we get to the WS? Or will we be also rans again?

We’re better simply by virtue of being healthier… we need a backup plan at first base and third base. There is still more work to be done, but we should win more than 82 games with what we have..,

They will better by just having Judge for an entire season combined with Soto.

Hard question to answer for me. I don't think there is any question we are better offensively. While we have 5 starters slotted in the rottation there is a real lack of depth behind them. This is concerning since we seem to need 8 or 9 starters to get through a season and this year we have question marks with Rodon and Cortez. Cash always seems to find BP arms that excede expectations but right now the pen also doesn't look deep from a quality perspective.

I’m hoping for a .289-ish year out of him…

I think he and Cabrera will both make the team because of their versatility.

Ozzie Cabs came into last season thinking he was going to hit some homers and it messed him up. Plus he doesn’t have the pressure of taking LF over this year. Peraza needs to look for fastballs and prove he can hit them…

I voted Yes. But I reserve my right to change my vote if the Yankees make a ridiculous trade.

for sure much better. even last season's team was technically much better than 82 wins but when judge is out for 2 months and rizzo (who was having a great year) for 4 months, that's a huge dropoff. add in stanton, dj & all the pitching injuries and voila - 82 wins.
this season for the 1st time in a many years, we actually have an OF even w the questions about soto's defense. judge, soto, verdugo w GG'er grisham backing them up is much better than clown show (gallo, hicks, cabrera, mckkiney, bauers etc) we ran out there last season.
another is we have 4 guys in their walk years (soto, torres, rizzo & verdugo). barring injury, that portends a good season.
still think we're a top notch starter short. if we don't get one, then we have to hope rodon & cortes return to form and everyone stays healthy. that's a lot to ask.

This is a two part question and answer. Yes, the team is better right now than last season, but Yes, they still have more work to be done if they want to reach their real goals.

I am going with Maybe - on paper we should be better offensively simply with the addition of Soto. Rotation-wise, there are bounce-backs that need to happen with Nestor and Rodon, all without the amount of depth we had last season. Peralta and King will be difficult to replace in the bullpen, as both could close if needed.

If LeMahieu, Rizzo and Judge are healthy the Yankees are better offensively even without Soto. I worry Stanton will be a huge hole in the lineup. I have very low expectations about the pitching beyond Cole. I am hopeful the other pitchers can combine to be over .500.
I think I was more hopeful prior to last season than I am now.
