Obviously, it was your "opinion". I was just adding to my post that I also wouldn't expect Snell to accept that contract offer. I have a question... Do you usually get snarky even when someone agrees with you?
Oh, the SNARK, babe, has such teeth, dear And it shows them pearly white Just a jackknife has old MacHeath, babe And he keeps it, ah, out of sight You know when that SNARK bites with his teeth, babe Scarlet billows start to spread Fancy gloves, oh, wears old MacHeath, babe So there's never, never a trace of red… Jets vs Snarks... BTW...Happy B-Day...

Its cashman being too stubborn to admit he screwed up . I think its at the height of stupidity that they havent even made him an offer . According to the rumor mill, Monty wants to go back to Texas and is waiting for them to sort out their local TV broadcast issues.
I heard that as well.

I would have offered 180 mill over 5 . Take it or leave it
Was that a typo ? 180 over 5 would average out to $36 per season... I would go $36 per year for Snell on a 2 year deal. No it wasnt a typo . 180 over 5 isnt a bad deal for a 2 time cy young winner . And no way he goes for 2 years unless its for what verlander got from the mets

Hey Max...What do you think about a payroll strategy that overpays a guy for a short term deal rather than the long term committments ? For instance, do you think the Yankees would have be better in the long run paying Judge $54 M per for 5 years rather than $40 for 9 ? I think the post was a typo but it did make me wonder an overpay for 2 years might be better for the Yankees than a 5 or 6 year contract. What do you say ?
Hi Pat.. In my opinion, it depends on the player. As for Judge, the Luxury Tax isn't going to give the Yankees much room to build a team around Judge should the Yankees pay him that amount of money for fewer years without going way over the Luxury Tax threshold. 54 million is about 23% of the Luxury Tax threshold. I doubt that Snell would accept the contract I think the Yankees should offer him. 3/75 with innings pitched incentives. If Snell says no that contract, I'd rather the Yankees wait a year and use some of that money to sign Burnes. Not many teams would be able to match up against the Yankees 2 Aces (Cole, Burnes).
We agree on Snell. He had a couple of great years but for most of his career his results were very ordinary. I'd save my resources unless I could get him on a "reasonable" contract.

That is true thats why i wouldnt give him more than 5 years . And i rather offer a contract to monty instead . But like it or not they need starting pitching and snell wouldnt be a bad pick up even at yhat price

Signing him to a huge contract might also take the Yankees over the top L-Tax threshold, if they aren't there already. That would mean they have to pay dollar for dollar for any money spend over that Top threshold. 36 million per season becomes 72 million per season, unless the Yankees can shed payroll.
