Despite Aaron Judge’s early season record breaking pace for GIDP, he had now been passed by Manny Machado who has rapped into 17. Judge and Luis Arraez both have hit into 14 as Judge has considerably slowed his pace. Jose Trevino is tied for 14th place with 11 in far fewer games… DJL has 7 GIDP in only 103 ABs. That's an even higher rate than both Trevino and Judge. 🐢…

Reggie was that way, too. He wasn’t near as good, but he made himself into a show… No one ever talks about his play on defense. IIRC, his arm strength was adequate at best. Always thought it was strange that a left-hander was playing RF. I've always felt Reggie Jackson was highly overrated. He was rather one-dimensional, swinging for the seats with each swing. His defense was not good, and he was as selfish a player as you could find. His 1977 World Series game was one for the ages, of course. And that made his legacy.

Reggie from 1977-1980: .286/.375 .274/.356 .297/.382 .300/.398 Those are pretty good batting averages and OBPs for a "one-dimensional" hitter who only swings for the seats. He destroyed the Dodgers in 1977 and was the WS MVP. Destroyed KC and the Dodgers again in 1978 as the Yankees won two straight championships. Put up 18 RBI against the Dodgers in 12 WS games in 77+78. Got elected to the Baseball HOF. But yeah it was "foolish" to retire his number. Guys like that are dime a dozen. Tons of guys have candy bars named after them, he was a nobody in New York.

Not enough to have your number up with all those Yankee greats and that includes your alcoholic manager/sparring partner. His number should come down too.

One of a kind, love affair…?😂 Too bad Soto didn’t add that he’ll give the Yankees a discount to stay with them…

One of a kind, love affair…?😂 "It's A Shame" "It's A Shame" is one of The Spinners most underrated hits. Co-written by Stevie Wonder with that great guitar intro. Two more good ones from them that get lost in the shuffle are "I'll Always Love You" (not the same song that Dolly Parton wrote and Whitney Houston vastly overdid) and "Ghetto Child." Every thread can be a music thread!

Almost four hours of tunes… I played all of the Joel albums from the first up to Streetlife Seranader. Will I continue tonight? Maybe… I played almost an hour of Croce stuff, too…

My favorite Joel album is the one right after "Seranader", Turnstiles, although the live versions of those song on Songs in the Attic may even be better.
