Under George, Cashman would have been gone a long, long time ago. And maybe rehired and fired and rehired and refired, and promoted and demoted and… More entertaining than resigning and extending the same guys over and over after failing for years and years |

George built the Yankees up to be something special. George also made the Yankee the laughing stock of MLB with all of his hiring and firing of managers. Particularly the Billy Martin revolving door. Bucky Dent gets fired after a series in Boston of all places. Howser gets fired after the Yankees win 104 games. The Yankees also had a drought for many, many years when George owned the team. That is, until he got suspended, which allowed baseball people like Gene Michael and Buck Showalter more freedom to build the Yankees into a winner again. George put money back into the Yankees, no doubt. So does Hal, but without all the ridiculous embarrassing drama. Under George, Cashman would have been gone a long, long time ago. Probably. George's fired a lot of good and successful MLB people. |

Over the last 5 years not counting the ridiculous 60 game covid season, the Yankees record is 476-334 .588 winning %. Thats not very good considering that they have had one of the highest payrolls and nothing to show for it. Even mediocre teams make the playoffs . Money alone doesn't win games. Who cares what the red sox said? They laughed? So what? That's a harmless back and forth. My answer to them would be, they should act like they know what it's like to win.
