Maybe if I got lost a couple times… You lost me on that one. If the distance from the bench to center field is 310 feet and you have to get there and return 17 times in a 9 inning games that is that is 5270 feet. Humor me and give me the first mile for that alone.
For a pro athlete that should be a stressless mile over a 2-3 hour game. It's not like the OFers are doing back and forth sprints.

They do and that is why I thought the idea that a guy could play an entire game only running 1 mile was not accurate. The extra running in center if primarily the function of having to back up on balls hit to either side. Plus center is just deeper and as noted above, you have to bacj up throws going down to 2nd. I dunno about 5 miles, but at least 3 seems legit.
Even 3 miles (60 blocks) sounds like a lot. In my opinion, if a GM is worried that his OFers are running too much, that GM should trade for a new pitching staff.

I don't think anyone is "worried" about OFs, including Judge, running too much...just that it's more wear & tear on a player Judge's size. Besides...he's an elite RF.

That sounds a lot like being worried about the wear and tear on a player, of which running would be a part of. Judge is an elite RFer, ARod was once an elite Shortstop. The roster right now with JD on the IL is what it is. I can't speak for anyone else, but I don't expect Judge to be the Yankees full time CFer past this season or even this season when JD comes of the IR. That's why, in my opinion, it seems to be much ado about nothing. I'm pretty sure that Judge would get the rest he needs between days off and DHing.

I am sure it is unless the guy is managing plantar fasciatis or an injured toe. But it is just a small part of what an outfielder in center does. Again, I'll put more stock into Bernie Williams' opinions on this than that of a fan.

OK...then I "worry" about the additional wear & tear Judge will be subjected to playing CF. But yeah...the problem is getting Judge, Soto & Stanton in the everyday lineup as the roster is currently constructed. You've got 3 guys whose "natural" position is RF. I'm sure Yanks don't see Judge as their permanent CF, but when Dominguez returns there will be even more of a challenge getting all 4 bats in the lineup.

Spring training games start tomorrow!
Here's a full schedule including where you can watch or listen to all the games:
Usually we have one all encompassing thread (like this one) to follow all the spring training game action. If I see there's a lot of posts we may do individual spring training game threads later.
Of course, when the regular season rolls around we will have individual threads for every game.
Hope to see you guys in both this thread and the regular season ones! Happy Start of Baseball!

Unfortunately tomorrow's first spring training game at Detroit isn't televised. I'll have the lineup though in the morning when it is released.

CF will potentially beat him up more than RF. But more importantly, he is a good CF, he is a great RF.

I wonder if they ever thought about trying Judge in LF? "Yankees manager Aaron Boone said that he expects to play Aaron Judge, a natural right fielder, in center field a lot this season, adding that he could even play in left field, during an appearance on the Foul Territory podcast on Friday."

I sent a letter to Cashman asking if he’s considered having Judge cloned and start breeding the clones so we can have him at all positions in future generations. He must be quite busy because I haven’t received a reply yet. There has been a dark sedan following me around and parking in my driveway at night, though…

A 6'7" 270 lb player squatting and standing 130 times prer game would be the equivalent of running 8 miles each game. I have no science on the 8 miles number, but it sounds good.
