Nestor pitches well when he deceives. I don't think a ST game coming after an injury season is where he's going to show his best deception. Unfortunately, he's going to be a huge question mark until we see him actually out there trying to win games. I believe in Nasty Nestor!… I'm not sold on him but I want to believe in him. His numbers 2nd and 3rd time through the order, even before hurt, were horrendous last year. Hopefully, it was a blip on the radar.

First outing for Nestor, so needs some grace/leeway...shaking off rust and all that...but he was allowing a lot of contact today. Hopefully he tightens it up as spring progresses. Not Really. If you watched the game ... Nestor didnt get hit hard in the first 2 inn First inning .. 2 catchable balls tuned into hits. One would have been a great catch by Soto the other could have been a double play ball but Volpe couldn't get a handle on it. Otherwise Nestor Struck out the side in the 1st and the 1st batter he faced in the 2nd inning (1st 4 outs were K's) followed by a popup and a groundout 2 shutout 4 k innings and then he tired in the 3rd which is understandable in first preseason start

Mattingly looks like he could still play. Bet if his back was feeling good he could still hit .280 and play gold glove 1B. Tino and Bernie look like they are enjoying their retirement.

Today's game Yankees vs Rays is broadcast via streaming from MLB. Looks like a beautiful day for a game of baseball with Schmidt on the mound.

Wondering if people think both Cabrera and Peraza make the 26. I think it's probably one or the other with the inside track to Peraza.

He was 36 years old at that point…

Just my opinion, but I see Cabrera as a Utility player, and see Peraza as a starter. I think Peraza should play everyday, which means at the very least he starts the season in Triple A until he's either traded or there's a place for him in the Yankees starting lineup.
