Thought it sounded familiar. How 'bout the Las Vegas AArdvarks...the AA's. Why does the A's need to vacate Oakland when they can stay there till Las Vegas stadium is up and running. The A's owner must of had a dispute to warrant a quick exit. I believe their lease was up at the Coliseum and they were in negotiations to renew it for a short term. The city of Oakland made them an offer they chose not to accept.

If A's only sell about 3,000-3,500 tickets, a smaller less expensive facility might be the way to go.

Should be plenty for them.

I just don't believe that area can/will support 2 MLB teams. I like the move to Las Vegas.

I live 30 minutes from Oaklan Coliseum and I can tell you it is a dump. It would be hard to imagine another MLB Park in more need of repair. I do know the A's wanted to build a new stadium and the City of Oakland was adamant no public funds would be used. Oakland has lost three major sports franchises because in some part they are unwilling to make investments in them. The City has a lot of issues so I can see prioritizing funds elsewhere but I still think they are being penny wise and pound foolish. Successful sports franchises can bring revenue to a city and boost surrounding businesses.

I've also had the discussion as to whether public funds should be used to build pro sports facilities. My argument has been there is usually a substantial ROI to the community when public funds are used...Coors Field being a prime example. But, as you said, the city of Oakland also has many issues that require perhaps a better use of public funds...I know there were demonstrations re public education being one.

Maybe there is just a national mood against such projects this year. www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl/voters-reject-jackson-county-stadium-measure-for-kansas-city-chiefs-royals/ar-BB1kYL5p

I despise the reality that tax money is spent on a business that takes in millions in profits, yet I do understand the public benefit. Now if only city admins could see the damage they do when they rob education coffers to find the money, then we’d have something going…

There was some talk about the A’s playing here in Reno, the Diamondback’s triple A team, the Reno Aces. By the way, Jordan Montgomery is pitching tomorrow.😄.

I understood that it was a more a football stadium and not a ballpark per se. Never had a bad time taking in a game there. Everyone was friendly, great conversations with old-time Athletic's fans. I suppose if I was a season ticket holder, I might have wanted more for my money. Still, Oakland is a tough sell right now. Even In-N-Out Burger left Oakland due to crime and danger to their employees.
