Volpe: A Would have been an A+ except his throwing errors need to be stopped (Hard judgement) Soto: A Would have been an A+ but his fielding needs improvement (Might be picky) Cabrera: A+ Definitely more than expected. In fact if he keeps hitting, he is better than LeMahieu because of speed and switch hitting Stanton: D Except for good hitting a few games in a row (and not many) he is a wasted AB, can't run at all and can't field Rizzo: B Though there is no more concussion, he just doesn't seem himself. Too many odd fielding miscues and hitting seems slightly off Torres: C- Not hitting well, fielding is questionable, baseball decision making is not good. Berti: C Just haven't seen much from him. Fielding is good, but 6 Ks in 6 games doesn't do anything for me Trevino B Throwing to second could improve and batting seems to be picking up Judge C- If it wasn't for his walks, his OBP would be in the bottom of the pack. He needs to get it going. Wells: B Seems to be hitting the ball well, but mainly long fly outs. Could be better at throwing to second Grisham: D Probably be an F, if it wasn't his center field play to relieve Judge Jones NA Who knows? Smith NA Another, who knows?
AGAIN, very early in the season, but having watch all the games so far, just my perspective. Please don't beat me up too much... For what it is worth
Agree that it's too early for grades like this, but wts, I wish you were one of my high school teachers! The one that caught my attention was Wells. The Yanks handed him the starting catching job and I was hoping he would run with it, he hasn't. No one has been a bigger supporter of the kid than I but if he doesn't start hitting soon he's in risk of losing PT to Trevino. I agree he's hit in some bad luck but that can't entirely explain a BA near .100. Good news is he isn't striking out, bad news OPS is terrible.
