Another play that should have been an out that's scored a hit. That happens a lot to the Yankee infield.

Ramirez takes a curve for a strike. Fouls off a sweeper, 0-2 Curve way low and away, tipped an Trevino catches, but on a hop, still batting. Chases a slider just out of the zone, good break, nubs it down 3rd, Cabrera cuts across and field, but bobbles on transfer, Ramirez safe, scored a hit and it probably was. They almost never score an error for a fumble on transfer.
Schmidt done at 102 pitches. Didn't get through the 6th, just as I predicted. Admittedly, ANYONE could've predicted that successfully.

Santana comes in to relieve Schmidt.
Slider near middle, is strike 1. Cutter inside, pops it to Cabrera, 2 down

Rosario was 0-2 with a K vs. Santana before that pop up.
Sinker low, 1-0 Slider swung on and missed as Ramirez steals 2nd with 2 down. Cutter fouled off, 1-2 Mead has not batted vs. Santana before.

Cy Alexander shuts us down.
But now he is out of the game.

Freezes him with a sinker down and in on the corner inside for the ꓘ, inning over. Bottom 6, 1-0 Rays.
Soto, Judge and Rizzo for the Yanks, possibly against Armstrong.
Alexander stays in to pitch to Soto, gets a grounder to 2nd on the 2nd pitch, thrown out, 1 down.
And that's it for Alexander, he's done after 5 1/3 innings and 79 pitches.

Armstrong pitching OK for the Rays this season so far, 7 games 10 1/3 innings, 4.35 ERA, 12 K and 4 BB Armstrong basically a 2 pitch righty: FB at 93 about 2/3 of the time, cutter at 89-90, 32% of the time Throws curve at 83-4 about once every 5 innings and has thrown basically one slider this year at 82, they're probably the same pitch, but one is miscoded.

Judge is 3-6 vs. Armstrong with a solo HR, and a K. Works the count to 1-1, then gets jammed by a sinker inside, but he muscles it over short and into left center for a 1 out single.

Stanton is 1-5 vs. Armstrong, but the 1 hit is a grand slam, and he also has a sac fly against him, and also 2 K Quickly falls behind 0-2, then misses a FB just inside middle, waste high for the K, 2 down.

FB up and away, 1-0 on Rizzo. Cutter down the middle, hit hard to first, goes off Diaz' mitt right to Mead, who throws back to Diaz to get Rizzo and end the inning. Yanks get another single that goes nowhere.
Top 7, 1-0 Rays.

Just too many games like this where the offense is shut down for long stretches, and it isn't always a good pitcher doing it.
