Sinker down the middle at 96 Palacios takes it, 1-1 Sinker into the top of the zone fouled back Slider down and well inside, but Palacias it right on it and pulls it well foul into the 2nd deck. Sinker waist high away, and Palacios does what he should, goes right with it, but the liner goes right to Volpe, who starts to run to the bag, then changes his mind and flips to Torres, to double off a stupid Siri, who had no business going anywhere on the liner with one out because his run would not tie the game. Baserunning blunder bails out Holmes and the Yanks, who get away scot-free with a win only Soto, Schmidt and Santana deserved to get. Yanks win 5-3, their 2nd in a row, to get back to .700, 14-6 on the yeard

Bullpen sucked but we won! Well, basically, Hamilton and Holmes sucked and I'm gonna take a lot more words to say just that, but those are essentially the facts, Jack.

Maybe Cash is thinking the infield fly should have been called but wasn't. He's probably thinking infield fly was called and they didn't tag the runner at third. I think he's mad because the umpire called it an out and then changed his call to safe when he saw Judge didn't catch the ball.

3rd star of the game: Schmidt, who despite infuriating me all game long, still turned in 5 1/3 good innings. 2nd star: Santana, who got Schmidt out of the 6th, and was the only effective reliever tonight. And he gets the W as a reward. 1st star: Soto again. He got the game-breaking 3 run moon shot, that cashed in the multiple defensive boo-boos by the Rays in the Yanks' 7th.

I think he's mad because the umpire called it an out and then changed his call to safe when he saw Judge didn't catch the ball. Maybe. But even if he makes no call, Siri must freeze until he sees Judge not catch it, so he maybe lost a step or two to get to 3rd, and it doesn't matter all that much.

OK, Yanks win 5-3, to get back to 8 over .500 at 14-6, and will hold on to first for another day.
Royals had a 6-0 lead on the O's but the O's have rallied and now trail 6-4 bottom 7 in KC. If the Royals hang on, the lead is 1 1/2 games. Sox crushed the Pirates 9-1 and will stay 3 1/2 games back. Jays lead the Padres 1-0 bottom 1st. If they can hold that lead for 9, they stay 3 games back. Rays loss pushes them into a tie with the Sox for 4th-5th, 3 1/2 back.

You're right, but Cash is biased and wants every call.

Game 2 is tomorrow at 1:07 on YES. Rays' notional current rotation ace, Zack Eflin, who's 1-2 in 4 starts with a 4.63 ERA and has allowed 26 hits but just 2 BB in 23 2/3 innings with 20 K vs. be opposed by The Nasty One™. Cortes is 1-1 in 4 starts with a 4.50 ERA. In 22 innings, he's 20 hits, 5 BB and 3 HR, with 19 K.
OK, that's gonna do it for me for tonight. See you guys tomorrow afternoon for the middle game. Good night to all. Bye.
Yanks steal another one, and just like 2022, that can't go on forever. OK, 'night.
