Rosario goes for 2nd on the cutter outside, and Trevino has no chance, SB puts runners on 2nd and 3rd with 1 out. Infield in on Caballero, who is supposed to have serious power.

Gets ahead of Caballero 0-2. No chance slider way outside 1-2 Big breaking knuckle curve, Caballero tries to check, and it doesn't matter it was on the corner anyway, K, 2 down.

Now Schmidt has to finish the inning off.

Schmidt is a serious slog to watch. He's like watching a little kid playing with dynamite.

Like Mead and Caballero, Rortvedt has never faced Schmidt Fouls off a cutter at the top. Swings under another one at the top, a couple of inches closer to the batter, 0-2. Takes the bag leg curve. Have no idea where Schmidt was walking off to, that wasn't close to strike 3. Cutter up and in, pulled just foul off 1st. 23 pitches this inning for Schmidt, over 40 now.

Feels like we'll be lucky to get 5 out of Schmidt. It would be so helpful to string a couple of starts of 6-7 innings together, but it doesn't feel like we have anyone capable of that.

Rortvedt looking like he did with the Yankees instead of a guy hitting .320.

The maddening Schmidt escapes the runners at the corners with no outs jam with three straight Ks.

Now Schmidt has to finish the inning off. He'll keep pulling this crap until the wrong guy is up in the 4th, 5th or 6th inning and then comes the knockout blow. Every time he has an actual 1-2-3 inning on less than 15 pitches, I feel like putting on a party hat and blowing a New Year's Eve party horn. Pitch clock violation makes it 3-2. Sinker tails a bit back to the inside corner, freezing Schmidt for the ꓘ, inning over. Bottom 2, 0-0. 25 pitches for Schmidt in the 2nd, 43 through 2.

Ruth chastised me the other day for wearing medium gray jeans with a dark purple tee shirt, a souvenir from a Huckleberry Festival in Idaho that I never attended… 🤓 We need pictures. Next time, take pictures. Could be awhile since I have about 802 tee shirts, most with pinholes. That one doesn’t have the holes. I was trying to dress nice…

Rizzo, Torres and Verdugo for the Yanks. 1-1 on Rizzo. He's 1-3 with an RBI and a BB vs. Alexander. Cutter up and in hits Rizzo, man on 1st, nobody out.
