Hader having a brutal season so far, ERA is over 6.00.
Rizzo 3-13 with a HR 3 RBI, 4 BB and 5 K vs. Hader.
Takes a 96 sinker into the top of the zone outer 3rd, 0-1
Pops up a slider on the corner away, caught by Pena near 2nd, inning over.
Top 9, 4-3 Astros.
Loperfido, Dubon and Altuve. Marinaccio coming in for the Yanks.
Canes got a goal by Guentzal a few seconds after my last update. Canes up 1-0 with 5:45 left in the 1st.
Rangers on a power play at the moment. Guentzal called for a high stick penalty.

FB first pitch, swung on and missed, 0-1 on Loperfido
Change on the low outside corner, Loperfido digs it out and lines a single to right to start the 9th.

Dubon is 0-1 vs. Marinaccio
Chases a FB about 6 inches above the inside corner, 0-1
Slider backs up way up and in, and Dubon has to spin and dive out of the way, 1-1
FB up and away, taken, Loperfido steals 2nd, the throw might have been in time, but Volpe has to try to catch and tag at the same time, goes off his mitt. Loperfido doesn't goes to 3rd
Dubon shows bunt, tapper to the left of the mound, butcher boy soft chop to the left of the mound, Marinaccio fields and throws a strike to Torres covering 1st. Loperfido to 3rd, 1 out, and the Yanks must bring the infield in for Altuve.

Marinaccio gets ahead, 1-2 after he fouls off a FB up
Altuve's been chasing outside all night and making contact so he tries to hit one about 2 feet low and away, and misses, big K, 2 down.
Infield now back for Tucker, who's never faced Marinaccio.

Change misses just down and in, 3-0
Of course, they can pitch around Alvarez too, and pitch to Pena with bases loaded, but Marinaccio's command not good.

I'd walk Altuve to put the double play in order. Can't really do that with Tucker and Alvarez waiting vs. a righty, and not a great one. |
