I'm sure Rizz is interested this. Paul Skenes just made his major league debut against the Cubs. The first hitter he faced was our old friend, Mike Tauchman and he struck him out on a 101 MPH fast ball. Struck out the next guy, walked Bellinger and then gave up a 390+ flyout to dead center to Chris Moral. Congrats to Skenes, he's a major leaguer and will bring some excitement to an organization that certainly needs it.

Volpe may have been hosed. Both Gameday and Statcast K zones agree: 25-30% strike on the last pitch to Volpe. Verdugo... Slider low, 1-0 Slider on the corner away, 1-1 Splitter just outside middle, Verdugo late and under, a high foul fly to left. Arozarena climbs the Yankee bullpen mound and catches, inning over. Bottom 1, 0-0 17 pitches in the 1st for Littell.

Nice play by Ricearoni near the bullpen pitching mounds. I always liked the chicken flavor. The rest, not so much…

I don’t think Littell is actually “on the rubber”… weird that he gets away with that… I hate those washed uni numbers… What a man and a woman do consentingly in privacy is none of my business.

Diaz, who owns Cortes, owns him again. Cortes starts with his usual first pitch get it over FB, and Diaz, who's usually patient, jumps it for a solo HR to left center, 1-0 Rays. No 7 shutout innings for Cortes today.

First inning HRs are getting to be a pain.

Arozarena is lucky he didn't hurt himself with that late slide.

Rosario jumps on a 1st pitch cutter inside, hits it to medium deep left, Verdugo gets to it, makes a mental error, doesn't realize that Arozarena is tagging and going to 2nd, Verdugo gets the throw in late, but then Arozarena tops Verdugo with a physical error, overslides 2nd, and Cabrera puts the easy tag down for the weird DP, 2 outs, nobody on for Paredes.

Ugly inning for Nestor, but not a horrible result.

Backdoor slider on the corner, 0-1 on Paredes. FB up and away, 1-1 Fb gets a small piece of the corner down and in, not called, 2-1 FB misses just up and away, 3-2 Fb at the high outside corner, popped high to short left, Volpe goes back and catching, inning over.
Top 2, 1-0 Rays. 13 pitches in the 1st for Cortes.
