Poor base running by Grisham, can't blame Volpe for that one. Grisham might have ran the Yankees out of a big inning with Soto due up. Plus, poor pitching and poor hitting usually never adds up to a win.
Looked like he also misplayed a ball in CF but I didn't get a good look. Maybe suffering from a lack of PT. I thought he might have misplayed it, but I wasn't sure. In my opinion, lack of playing time is a poor excuse for any player in any sport, because they should use practice time in order to be ready to play. |

In my opinion, lack of playing time is a poor excuse for any player in any sport, because they should use practice time in order to be ready to play. I agree with that sentiment and when a guy is making a mill and a half or so per year to be a backup, I’d expect the he’d treasure that job enough to play and pacific all out. Yet on the other side of that coin, there is nothing like game play to get the adrenaline pumping. We can’t expect any player to be perfect… I can’t imagine that anyone that’s played the game can be said to have never made a bad play, other than young inger. I’ll tel you the truth though. There are a few I’d like a do over on, and I think about them almost as much as I do the ones that even blew my mind when I made them… |

I think game conditions are much different and I do believe it is an adjustment for a player who is used to playing every day to become a part time player. IMO, a lot of players struggle for a variety of reasons making this switch, including trying to do too much with limited opportunities. |
