Why are you all picking on Duggie? The poll originated from an ongoing discussion between myself and ill636. Ill636 sees a guy carrying his bat too far down the first baseline and simply assuming he’ll be out. I see the issue as Verdugo arriving here with a bad reputation from Boston, so some people may see what they expect. I don’t know if he wax a dog in Boston in response to the treatment from Joey, or if Joey saw him dogging and went public with it. Keeping in mind that players are discouraged from “false hustle” and that Verdugo may be pushing himself a bit here to eliminate the talk that came with him from Boston, or thinking ahead to his next contract. I don’t think anyone can accuse the man of loafing in the field, so I’m supposing his running from home to first to be the primary issue. I’ve seen him hustling down the line to steal a hit, but perhaps I’m not always looking when he carries the bat halfway while trotting and assuming he’ll be out. I guess ill636 hasn’t voted yet because Verdugo is faring well in the poll with no negative votes… I do think it’s interesting to see how players are viewed by different fans… |

I would love to see Dugo resigned but if we get Soto and with the young guys he will be expendable.

I would love to see Dugo resigned but if we get Soto and with the young guys he will be expendable. I like him, but the upside on our young players is much higher. Someone is going to wind up at 1B, and with Rice coming along even that may cause a jog jam. He’s a helluva nice man, but moving Stanton would help fit another player to rotate into the OF-IB-DH situation, but even then I don’t see Verdugo as a long term fit… unfortunate timing for him… |
