Verdugo goes with a 1st pitch slider waist high on the outside corner, drives it to deep left center, but Profar runs it down and makes a terrific sliding catch on the track to take away an extra base hit, 1 down.

Somehow Darvish and Rodon have similar pitch counts.

One thing I loved about David "Boomer" Wells: if you gave him a big lead, he would not even get to a three-ball count. Boomer hated walking guys. At 40 years old in 2003, Wells pitched 213 innings for the Yankees and walked a total of 20 batters.

FB up and in, but in the zone, ties up Rizzo just enough, his fly to fairly deep right center is an easy catch for Merrill, inning over. Darvish gets himself an 11 pitch 1-2-3 inning and is at just 69 through 5, despite all the damage.
Bottom 5, 7-0 Yanks. Bottom of the order for the Padres in the 5th, Campusano, Merrill and Kim.

Kim... FB well outside waist high, 1-0 FB less outside but higher, still a ball, 2-0 Gets a favorable call on a thigh high Fb that missed just outside, 0% on Gameday, but called a strik, 2-1 Fb above middle fouled off, 2-2 Slider 3-5 inches low on the inner half, topped to Berti, he hustles in, throws on the move and throws a strike, getting Kim by a step. Inning over. Good bounceback inning for Rodon, 8 pitch 1-2-3 and 73 through 5.
Top 6, 7-0 Yanks
Bottom of the order for the Yanks, Torres, Wells and Berti in the 6th.

Guys, this is the best laptop I have ever owned. I have not had it plugged for two hours and it still sits at 95% charged. It puts off no heat at all. Just amazing.

Went to the Omaha Storm Chasers game (we live 1/2 mile away from the stadium) and got distracted. I expected to do well against the Padres, but this is a pleasant surprise. Remember when a lot of us were worried about Judge (I was one of them)? How silly.

FB sinks low on the inner half, 1-0 on Torres Well that horrible inning by the Mets' Reed Garrett ruins my night, as I have him on my fantasy team. Slider backs up and in, brushing Torres back, 2-0 Slider waist high, inside middle, but Torres misses, fouls it off, 2-1 FB gets a piece of the corner away, fouled off. 2-2 Torres takes his timeout. Splitter runs inside waist high, Torres starts but checks well in time, 3-2 Curve drops way low, Torres stops, thinks he checks in time, but the 1st base ump rings him up, K. Not sure he checked, but the YES guys don't show the top or side view, so I'll never know, 1 down.
