Man, if this were Cole pitching like Gil, everyone would be raving about another Cy Young for Cole. Best start for a rookie starter that the Yankees have had in a long, long time.

I agree he has to take a lead. And that he waited to avoid interfering. But his late lunge into the bag arguably created the contact, and could be judged as interference. I don't like it, but if he steps low and bends down, how can he know to do that?, then maybe they don't call it. I'll wait to see what the league ays about the call. I suspect they'll uphold it. They’ll uphold it, but what else can they do. And by the way, lunge is not descriptive of what he did. More like crept, snuck, sneaked, side stepped… yeah, side-stepped, that’s the one… According to what someone told me here, the AL office did NOT support the interference call on Vaughn against the O's that ended that game last week. Let's wait, and see what they say. |
