Cutter inside, grounded to short, an easy DP but, Rizzo stumbles and lets the ball hit him, maybe. Rizzo out, and LeMahieu gets a cheap hit for his first of the year, unless the umps call interference on Rizzo and the Yanks again.
But they don't 1st and 2nd, 2 down for Volpe

More runners left on base. Becoming a theme against the Angels.

Love is a very strong word… At least she isn't condemning them to eternal damnation like our good friend desousa . It's a difficult story for Matt to tell, but years ago in Florida, they referred to it as The Succotash Incident. Amazing that Matt turned out as normal as he did.

Change above the outside corner, fouled. FB above middle, a mistake, but he's late and under, fouls it off. Missed a cripple, Anthony. Chases a FB out of the zone, up and in, foul tipped into the mitt, K, inning over. Volpe swung at 4 pitches out of the zone that at bat.
Bottom 2, 0-0 21 pitches for Anderson in the 2nd, 40 through 2. Gil threw 16 in his first inning.
O'Hoppe, Adell and Moniak for the Angels in their half of the 2nd.

The relevant portion of rule 6.01 (a) Interference... "If, however, the runner has contact with a legally occupied base when he hinders the fielder, he shall not be called out unless, in the umpire’s judgment, such hindrance, whether it occurs on fair or foul territory, is intentional. If the umpire declares the hindrance intentional, the following penalty shall apply: With less than two out, the umpire shall declare both the runner and batter out. With two out, the umpire shall declare the batter out."
So, the ump decided that Soto's lunge back to 2nd very late was deliberate, and in that case, the DP call is in order.
After a 5 pitch at bat, O'Hoppe takes a 1-2 FB near the outer 3rd for the ꓘ, 1 down.
