Hmmm...doesn't throw as hard as I thought. 94 is good for a lefty, uses it not quite 2/3 of the time. Wipeoout slider at 86 about 1/3 of the time. Occasional change at 86 as well. Volpe has never faces him.

If this series represents future playoff games, I am not too excited about this team against good pitching.. AND, not too excited about our overall pitching... Now it's 4-2 which seems like a lot as for the offense soto takes the team to another level. pitching??? coming into the game we had the lowest ERA in baseball at 2.79. starter's ERA was 2.76. ok cortes didn't have his best stuff ...

Back leg slider misses way down and in, Smith does well to pvent a wild pitch FB at the knees in the middle taken, 1-1 A lot like old Mike Stanton, looks like FB up in the zone, fouled off, 1-2 on Volpe

This will be a good test for Volpe.. Is he "clutch"???? Tough to judge that here; he's never seen this guy before. If he can keep this going long enough, Vesia will walk him... FB inside, 2-2 FB inside 3-4 inches ties him up, he pops to Teoscar in left, inning over. Rats.

Yanks stranding runners all over the place. Soto's absence looming large over this series so far.

It isn't just Soto's own clutch hitting. It's the burden he lifts off the other hitters just by being there as a supreme threat to the opposition.
