This series may have died on the vine when Grisham couldn't come anywhere close to executing a basic sacrifice bunt.

Change drops into the very top of the zone, inner 3rd. Ohtani doesn't like it and it was marginal, but 10% on Gameday. Throw over. Big arm action change down and in, Ohtani thinks it's in the drop the bat happy zone but it drops low and he swings over, 0-2 Change low in the middle, and Ohtani recognizes that one, doesn't offer, 1-2 Fb up in the zone, grounded sharply on the right side of 2nd, Torres gets in front of it, but it handcuffs him anyway, he boots it, can't recover and a force play is lost. i don't think they double Ohtani there, but he has to get an out there.

Another defensive mistake by Gleyber.

I’m not at all interested in seeing Ohtani in the post season… I am considering it would mean we made the World Series.

Can’t blame that on Torres. Rotten bounce.

I have to be honest, I'm kind of over Gleyber at this point. His defensive "fussiness" can be somewhat tolerable when he's producing, but he ain't doing enough of that nowadays, even if he's been a bit better the last week or two.

It would not surprise me to see Boone's plan to sit Soto this series go out the window tomorrow, starting Soto against Glasnow in a bit of a panic move. Boone won't panic... As he will say, "it's a long season"... And he's right. These games against the Dodgers are great for the fans and for TV but they're just 3 games in June. I'm more worried about how serious Soto's injury really is.

Fb down the middle, Freeman takes it, 0-1 Sinker low in the middle 1-1 Good change gets a swing over and possibly inside of it, 1-2 Change bounced and Freeman recognizes early enough just to hold the bat still, 2-2 Change in a BAAAADDD spot down and in, Freeman misses outside of it, fouls it off his leg. Big arm action change bounces over home, completely fools Freeman, his weak flail at it is strike 3.

This series may have died on the vine when Grisham couldn't come anywhere close to executing a basic sacrifice bunt. Or it may have dies with any of the big RISP fails tonight. Or when Soto had an ouchie in his forearm.

FB low and away to Smith Change inside hit to the corner in left, Verdugo tries to time it, but pulls up a bit short as he jumps toward the wall, it lands foul, 1-1 Don't blame Verdugo, just wish he had recognized where the ball/he was a bit earlier. Doesn't seem to go hard early and pull up late. But that's two plays the Yanks could've/should've made this inning and didn't. Can't keep giving this lineup extra chances. FB above middle swung over, 1-2 Kahnle certainly working hard here. FB outside fouled Slider bounced outside, Wells with the good block Shoots the sinker FB for the low outside corner, misses 2-3 inches, called ball 3 correctly, Kahnle wanted it, but the call was right. Bad change winds up below middle, fouled.

Kahnle's 24th pitch is a bad change just above middle middle, fouled. 9th pitch of the at bat...FB high ball 4. Bases loaded, 1 down for Teoscar. He's 3-7 vs. Kahnle, with a HR 2 RBI, 1 BB and 3 K. Blake goes out there to give Kahnle a breather. Might not help.
