End of five, 1 hit and 7 Ks... AND this guy isn't even that good of a pitcher.... Baltimore is going to kill us, especially since our once great pitching has turn around the wrong way... Cole and Gil might throw good games against them, but not confident in any of the others.

DJ is becoming a problem. He's really struggling.

FB high, ball 1 FB up and in brushes DJ back, 2-0 Takes a FB outside middle, 2-1 Cutter above the zone foueld, 2-2 Chases a terrible bounced slider, can't check in time, but the home plate ump calls the swing himself, K, two down.
They're going to have to something about DJ, and possibly Stanton and Rizzo, too.

Fb gets a FB up and in on the 1st pitch, inside outs a soft line single to right, and Soto is the tying run at the plate with 1 out.

Cutter misses high, Gameday thinks it's a strike, ESPN doesn't, 0-1. Terrible call missed 3-4 inches high. FB inside, 1-1 Cutter high, 2-1 Bounced curve down and in, 3-1 And Soto gets another bad call. missed inside with a cutter, called strike 2. 0% on Gameday again, 2 inches insside. Soto not getting as many calls with the Yanks as he did with the Nats or Padres. I wonder why?

5 straight balls to Soto, 2 called strikes. Right on the money, chi. Volpe goes, the cutter is above the zone inner 3rd, but Soto must swing because of the two bad calls against him, rolls it into the 34 hole, Valdez spears it, wheels around and throws him, out, Volpe still running gets all the way to 3rd with 2 down.

Big sweeper to the low outside corner, Judge pulls off it. Notice that the righty threw 6 pitches to Soto all of them out of the zone. FB clips the outside corner, but they don't get this call, Coney is right, set up inside and Wong had to reach across. Sweeper goes well low, Judge chases, 1-2 Bounces the sweeper outside, delfects off Wong, gets far enough away for Volpe to steam home, 4-3 Sox now. Credit that run to Volpe's smarts and legs.

There are times I'm for going to the automated strike zone. Tonight is one of those times. Angel Hernandez "retired", but MLB is still stocked with terrible umps.

Slider stays waist high, outer half, but Judge misses late and under, fouls it off, still 2-2. Excellent sweeper starts middle, thigh high, dives outside, and Judge is fooled and pulls off it for the K. I can't blame Judge for chasing that, it was in the zone almost all the way to the plate. Just a great pitch there by Crawford, possibly his last one tonight, but the Sox pen has been suspect until recently, so maybe Cora tries to have him pitch the 7th.
Bottom 6, 4-3 Sox. 19 ptiches for Crawford that inning, and 84 total. 7-8-9 for the Sox: Valdez, Smith and Rafaela, in their half of the 6th.
