With Rizzo likely headed to the DL, the Yankees are forced to make a decision. There is a 40 man spot open with Periera done for the season, but they'll need a 40 man spot for Cole. They could move Schmidt to the 60 day, opening up another spot.
Do the Yankees go with Rice, who is both inexperienced and new a AAA? Do they bring Smith back up, who is, for lack of a better term "expendable"? Do they bring up Rumfield, who isn't a very highly touted prospect, but has had a fine season at AAA and first base is his natural position?

Yanks don't deserve to win this game. What a wasted opportunity. At least DJ hit a ball 300 feet.

Disgusting isn't a strong enough word for that inning. ESPECIALLY Torres who was up 3-0, finally swing at an obvious ball four...

3 years ago, I have no doubts here, but I don't think DJ can hit this guy either.
Gets a break on the call on the cutter on the corner low/away, 70-80% strike, not called, 1-0, bad call. Cutter well outside, 2-0 Cutter on the corner taken, 2-1 Gets a cutter down the middle, and squares it but not full power, because he was off balance, so the fliner to medium deep left center isn't hit nearly hard enough, and Rafaela is there, inning over. That's what they needed from Gleyber, but he out-thought himself again on the 3-1. Should've been thinking sac fly tie the game on the 3-1, the cutter up was perfect to go to right with, but he took it, and then chased the 3-2 sweeper low and away.
Bottom 7, 4-3 Sox, and that might be all she wrote for tonight.
Top of the order for the Sox in their 7th: Duran, Hamilton and Refsnyder. Ferguson in for the Yanks.

Duran... FB high, ball 1 FB down the middle, fouled, 1-1 FB high on the outer half, 1-2 Sinker waist high, inner 3rd, fouled off, 2-2 Takes his timeout FB inner half up in the zone, fouled Cutter misses outside at the knees, 3-2 FB at the top, popped foul over the Yankee dugout. Cutter taken low near the outside corner, and Ferguson walks Duran, which will likely become a double after he steals 2nd.

Cutter on the corner away, up in the zone, taken 0-1 Cutter bounced outside, 1-1 FB inside corner ties him up a bit, his fliner to center is an easy play for Judge, 1 down.

I really can't bear to watch Torres any more. One of the worst at bats I remember seeing being up 3-0.

Refsnyder takes a FB down the middle. Slurve breaks down and in, Refsnyder is early and over, 0-2 Back leg cutter too low to get a chase, 1-2 Bounces a slurve inside, again, no chance, 2-2 Sinker outside, smashed up the middle for a single, making Ferguson duck, Duran challenges Judge's arm and beats the play to 3rd without trouble. 1st and 3rd, 1 down for Devers. Odds that Devers doesn't get the run in...fat chance.

I really can't bear to watch Torres any more. One of the worst at bats I remember seeing being up 3-0. I predicted he would take 2 strikes before he did it. If I knew it, the Sox knew it. He was thinking "hero" instead of sac fly, tie the game.

Honestly, I'm leaning toward Rumfield. He's hitting .300 with a low strikeout rate, but he's not selective enough, so his K rate may rise against better competition. He was a MiLB gold glove winner last year, so we could definitely use the defense.
