Maybe it' for time to pull Gil from the starting rotation for a start or two and let Blake work with him, Also, it's time to think about the bullpen with the amount innings thrown this season. don't see anyone at scranton who's ready. maybe when schmidt gets back. How about AA Somerset? A one-time start? This is silly that the organization can't produce someone, instead we use them in trades. Thorpe sure would look good now. Hampton is a few weeks away at Single A in recovery work

Judge misses a waist high cutter outer 3rd, 0-1 Cutter on the corner away, thigh high, lobbed to right center, falls in front of Fairchild for a leadoff single.

Verdugo draws a 4 pitch walk by using the brilliant strategy of not swinging at any of four pitches not close to the strike zone. 1st and 2nd, nobody out and the pitching coach goes out there to try to settle Ashcraft down.

Cutter at the knees, taken for strike by Torres. Cutter bounced outside, 1-1 Hanging slider above middle, but Torres misses, fouls it back. Missed a cookie there, Gleyber. But it doesn't matter, hanging cutter outside corner, lined to right center for a hit, Judge scores, the throw is not cut off, allowing Torres to take 2nd. 2nd and 3rd, nobody out, and it's a 5-1 game.
So my pre-game scouting report on Ashcraft came true, but only after the Yanks were down 5, and this time for a change, the Reds didn't stay with Ashcraft long enough for him to get hit.

The reason why I know about Ashcraft is I've been waiting for him to make it on my fantasy game and 3/4 of his starts are like this, 3-4 good innings, fall apart the 3rd time through, and the Reds, lacking in middle relief wait too long to take him out almost every game.
Nice Martinez is a good long-releiver/6th starter and he's coming in for the Reds.

Rice takes a cutter inside, ball 1 Another cutter to almost the same spot, 2-0 A cutter almost bounced inside, 3-0 Green light? Probably not.

Four starts ago, Gil pitched at Fenway and just gave one run in 5 innings. I'll take that every time from a rookie starter against the Red Sox. I know what the box score says, chi, but you and I both watched that game on ESPN Sunday Night Yecch Cast, and he was in trouble every inning from the 3rd inning on, and it took him 104 pitches to make it through 5. I know he was struggling but he didn't fall apart like he's doing now and like we've seen a lot of Yankee pitchers do in the past at Fenway.
