This is what happens in the modern game when your stuff isn't good enough to challenge hitters in the zone, getting swings and misses. If you always have to trick hitters, and you make mistakes in the zone, they get hit. If you also walk more hitters, that adds more runs when they do.

FB overthrown high, 2-2
FB in the drop the bat happy zone down and in, and Wells doesn't miss, hammers it to the back wall of the Yankees' pen, 5-1 Reds. I'm happy to see Wells hit anything hard, but man, it's probably too late to matter.

Something needs to change. Personally, I think Boone has lost the clubhouse and has no idea how to fix this slump. Unfortunately, I don't know of any managerial candidates who can come in and take this over. There's no Billy Martin out there looking for a job.

Something needs to change. Personally, I think Boone has lost the clubhouse and has no idea how to fix this slump. Unfortunately, I don't know of any managerial candidates who can come in and take this over. There's no Billy Martin out there looking for a job.
