Rutschman takes a sharp cutter to the inner 3rd, below the waist, 0-1 Takes a FB well high, inner 3rd, 1-1. FB to the inside corner, just below the top, fouled back, 1-2 Rutschman should be shortening up here...

Cole going from the windup with the runner on third. Has he always done this? It's not often you see it at the MLB level.

If that's it for Cole, he finished strong.

Great couple of pitches inside to strand Mullins at third! Cole being Cole!

alright cole pitches through it. considering his struggles, 5 innings 1-run isn't bad. 91 pitches. maye he comes out for a batter or two in the 6th.

Spreads out his stance for better contact and control Gets a curve low in the middle, pulled foul off 1st. FB to the same spot as the one he just fouled, he's jammed and pops it foul off 3rd, LeMahieu has to move quickly to get there and does, inning over. Cole through 5 innings at 91 pitches with a 3-1 lead. 23 pitches in the 5th. He might have one more inning left in him, if Boone lets him try.
3-1 Yanks, top 6, Verdugo, Volpe and Trevino due in for the Yanks, probably against a different pitcher.

Maybe just for Verdugo?
FB maybe on the low outside corner, Verdugo didn't think so, but Gameday says 5% on the corner. Sinker at the knees in the middle, taken, that one is 50-50 on Gameday, 0-2

Bounces a cutter well outside, 1-2 FB 4-5 inches outside but the call on the 1st pitch forces a chase and a foul. Sweeper outer 3rd, below the waist fouled, still 1-2 Takes the sweeper about 4-5 inches outside, Rutschman held the ball hoping for the call, but it wasn't close. 2-2 Sinker above the inner 3rd, fouled off FB about a foot outside below the the knees, 3-2. Good job working the count, even if it comes to nothing. Sinker waist high away, topped to Westburg on the right side of 2nd, Verdugo upset missing that pitch and doesn't run hard, Too bad, Alex, run hard anyway, throws him out, 1 down. And now Povich is done at 95 pitches.

If the Yankees win this game, remember this play. True, I forgot to add that to my PBP, but that was a 4-star job by Gleyber, due to degree of difficulty.

Similar situation to the Gil game, a few more pitches but a hot humid day and he has worked hard. It will be intersting to see if he comes out for the 6th.

Burch Smith, a righty, in to pitch to Volpe and Trevino, at least.
