I expected that Verdugo would have been much better offensively. He just doesn't square up the ball very often.

Smith so-so stats across the board except for a low HR rate, just 1 in 24+ innings.
Volpe takes a FB up and in, making him lean back out of the way., Takes a FB low in the middle, 2-0 Gets a cutter down the middle, and rolls it to the left of 2nd, Henderson is there, throws him out, 2 down.

Despite the lead, don't like the feel of this game. Need some more runs or I fear a gut wrenching loss coming. Reckon that's overly pessimistic, but 6-17 will do that to you, I guess.

Curve backs up and in, making Trevino get out of the way. Big hack at a cutter on the corner away, 1-1 Chases a curve well inside, thigh high, fouls it, 1-2 Takes a sweeper that dies waist high, on the corner away, ꓘ, inning over.
Hey, I forgot something: Judge's 33rd HR: 107.4 mph, 397 feet, 35° launch angle, a HR in all 30 parks.
Bottom 6, 3-1 Yanks. 3-4-5 for the O's in their 6th: Santander, O'Hearn and Westberg.

Cole back out there for the 6th at 91 pitches. Curve misses well outside, 4-5 inches, called a strike, bad call again, 0% and not close, 0-1 Takes a FB well high, 1-1 Gets a cutter outside middle, lined to right of center for a leadoff single.

I expected that Verdugo would have been much better offensively. He just doesn't square up the ball very often. When Verdugo played against us I remeber he frequently had those long grind it out abs of 9 or 10 pitches. Not so much anymore.

O'Hearn gets a FB tailing outside thigh high, called a strike anyway, another break for Cole. 0% missed by 2-3 inches, 0-1 FB well outside above the waist, taken, 1-1 Cutter sharp but in a bad spot, inner 3rd, but O'Hearn jams himself pops to Soto in short right, 1 down.

Westburg takes a cutter outside, 1-0 Takes a 96 FB on the outer 3rd, 1-1 Misses a cutter, thigh-high, outside corner, 1-2 Misses a better cutter going out of the zone outside at the knees, K, 2 down. Cole's cutter looks like a slider tonight, it's breaking so much on most of them.
