yes kjerstadt grounds out to cole. 6 strong from the ace. guess with the break boone let him to empty the tank and save the pen.

Nice hops by Cole to snare that high grounder! Excellent job tonight, especially since that triple in the right field corner just beyond Soto's reach.

Curve starts middle, drops sharply to the knees just inside middle, taken, 1-2
FB misses low on the outside corner at 98. Cole humping up as if he knows this is his last batter.
Curve well outside, chopped high back to the mound, Cole short-circuits possible trouble behind him, by leaping as high as he can to field it, throws him out, inning over.
Struggled with finishing hitters a lot of the time again, but if there is such a thing as "an ace's 6 innings" that's it. Top 7, 3-1 Yanks.
Cole threw 15 pitches in the 6th, and is almost certainly done at 106 pitches, just 5 hits, 1 BB, 1 run and 7 K's.
Jones, then back to the top for LeMahieu and Soto for the Yanks in the 7th.

Takes a cutter that drops into the top of the zone in the middle, 2-2
Dots a FB on the low inside corner for the ꓘ, Jones argues, but it did get a piece of the corner, 10% on Gameday so too close to take.

DJ gets a 1st pitch cutter right down Broadway, tops it to Westberg on the right side, throws him out. Very weak 0-4 for LeMahieu so far tonight.

Rays up 2-0 on the Guardians, bottom 8 in Tampa.
Royals up 6-1 on the Red Sox, bottom 8 at Fenway.
Jays and D'backs starts in about 35 minutes.
