And again with the fundamentals. The infield is in so you have to know you’re not scoring there.

It's becoming a real slog to watch or even follow along with these games. Think I'm about to tap out early tonight.

Duran... Swings over a change going low, 0-1 Takes a change well low, 1-1 Takes a bounced change, 2-1 Misses a hanging change outer half, waist high, 2-2 Change on the inside corner, waist high, fouled. Tries to surprise him with a FB up in the zone, inside middle, but he spoils, fouling it back.

Hill warming for Devers, I suppose. Gets way under a FB, JUUSSSSTTT A BIT HIGHHHH!!, 3-2. I'm sure Devers is shaking in his cleats at the thought of Hill. Fb inside corner, swing and a miss, K, 1 down.

Refsnyder stays in, probably because Kahnle doesn't have an effective breaking ball, and the change will move in to him.
Swings over a change low in the middle, 0-1 Takes a FB way up and outside, 1-1 Misses inside with a change, 2-1 Takes a change low on the outer 3rd, 3-1 Takes a change low, just inside middle, ball 4.

The timbre of the game has belonged to the Red Sox the entire way. We can tie them, but they take the lead back. Rather frustrating…

Thanks, Kahnle, for bringing Devers into this inning...
Wong misses a change outside middle, 0-1 Takes a change low and outside, 1-1 Swings over a change going down and in, 1-2 Takes his timeout Good full arm action change starts near middle, drops low in the zone, inner half, swung over for the K, 2 down.
And that's it for Kahnle, Hill in to pitch to Devers.

Devers is 1-5 vs. Hill with a K, but he's 1-2 against him this season.

Is it even a changeup if you throw it so often? Maybe the 95 mph pitch is the real changeup.

The situational hitting on this team has been brutal for a few year snow. This is what happens when you have a roster of bad hitters who barely can hit .200 and in some cases are hitting lower. Rice has been brutal and Grishom lets face it is a bad hitter batting below .190. Go back to the 2022 season when starting July the team was carried by Judge and limped into the postseason. I believe they hit somewhere around .200 as a team in the playoff but somehow beat Cleveland but got swept in a non-competitive series against Houston. Last year the lineup was bad and once Judge went down it got worse. Now this year we have 2 ML bats and thats it. Somehow the GM keeps his job.

Holding Devers to a single is a victory at this point.

Devers takes a 89.8 "fast" ball well high in the middle, 1-0 Sinker thigh high, middle, late and fouled off 3rd, 1-1 Gets a FB in the zone up and away at 90.3, takes it, 1-2. FB above the zone, outer 3rd, 2-2 Gets under a slider misses way up and away, and he's trapped. If he comes in, he risks Devers burything. If he doesn't, he risk facing O'Neill with at least 2 men on, and at most 2 runs in. Sinker down the middle, lined to center for a hit, 1st and 2nd, 2 down for O'Neill.

O'Neill is 1-1 vs. Hill. And, after 1 pitch, he's 1-2, sinker in the middle, chopped to Cabrera, he eschews (how about that word in a baseball game thread, hunh, gang?) taking it to 3rd for the force, instead sets and fires a strike to Rice to get out of the jam and end the 6th.
Top 7, 4-3 Sox. Cabrera, then back to the top for Verdugo and Soto for the Yanks in the 7th.

Reds-Rays still 2-2, bottom 9 in Tampa. Padres lead the O's, 4-2 bottom 7 in Baltimore. Rangers lead the Jays 5-4, top 7 in Toronto.
