I swear this team is jinxed. No reason at all (other than trying to get a greedy "RUN" in the stats) for Soto to run through that stop sign. He just killed the rally.

Indeed. What do I say? Too many ways to lose, not enough ways to win. Wells takes a slider outside, 1-0 Takes a cutter down and in, 2-0 Change on the corner away, tries to go wallball, gets under it, just a fly to left, even in this park. Inning over. Yanks finally get a clutch hit with RISP and it STILL goes kablooie!! on them, thanks to Soto's craptastic TOOTBLAN. Bottom 8, 8-7 Sox.

wow soto. would have scored on well's fly. If he'd held, does anyone think Wells would've gotten the deep fly?

Yoshida takes a shange waist high, inside corner, 0-1 Swings over a change diving low in the middle, 0-2 Change taken down and in, 1-2 FB inside fouled off Wells or the ump. Bad change inside middle, topped foul off 1st Change in the drop the bat happy zone down and in, lined down the line in right, somehow lands foul in that small crack of space in front of the Pesky Pole, Yanks get a break(?) in that it's not a leadoff double or triple Takes a change low/away, 2-2 Chases a FB well high near the corner away, K, 1 down.

Devers swings over a change low, outer half, 0-1 Chases a change diving outside, thigh high, 0-2 Never seen Devers so flummoxed, guesses FB outside corner, change dives low/away, flails at it for the K, 2 down.

O'Neill takes a FB just outside, but Kahnle gets the call, 0-1. 0% on Gameday, close, but a ball. Change below middle, fouled off, 0-2 Change thigh high, middle of the zone, sharp grounder is near Volpe, who fields and throws him out, inning over.
Of course it's 1-2-3 against the heart of the Sox' order. Yanks didn't tie it up last inning, did they?

5-6-7 for the Yanks in the 9th: Torres, Rice and Volpe against Jansen. Oh, goody, Volpe gets to be the last out again.
Jansen threw 18 pitches last night, should be good for an inning tonight, he was on 4 days' rest coming into that game.
And the Sox ace, Houck, goes tomorrow.
